UEIC manufactures and tailors remotes for a number of cable providers and other companies. One of the currently most widespread styles is the "Atlas 5-Device" remote. They go by various names (Atlas 5-Device, Atlas DVR, Atlas DVR/PVR, Atlas 5-Device DVR/PVR, Atlas 5-Device DVR/PVR (day), Atlas OCAP, etc...) and come from various providers (Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, TWC, Rogers, Scientific Atlanta, and others..).

There are several variants of these remotes, and sometimes it is difficult to tell them apart. (Heck, even on the UEIC page linked above, if you look closely you will see that they show some of the same models TWICE iwth links to different manuals The variants seen to date are listed in this chart. In UEIC nomenclature they are (from left to right):

Atlas DVR (1054);
Atlas DVR (day) (1055);
and
Atlas OCAP DVR (1056 and 1056BC)

Here are two pictures of a URC-1056 Atlas OCAP Black Remote with backlighting:

Atlas DVR (1054):
- has a "Menu" key centered directly above the "Up arrow" key;
- has a "Settings" key (single function) to the left of the "Left Arrow" key;
- is a JP1 remote with signature SA_7SA_7.
- has a 1K factory EEPROM (can be replaced/upgraded by the user)

Atlas DVR (day) (1055):

- has the key above the "Up Arrow" key labelled "Settings" AND "Menu";
- replaces the key to left of the "Left Arrow" key with a rocker key labelled "Day" with a "+"and "-" direction;
- # button (to the right of 0) has a secondary label of HD/Zoom vs. ENTER
- is a JP 1.2 or JP 1.3 remote;
- there are SEVERAL signatures identified (and RDFs created) to date, including:
-- 10251025 (JP 1.2 - labelled JP1) has about 3.5K of equivalent "EEPROM" memory;
-- 30003000 (JP 1.3) all of the JP1.3's have about 4.5K of equivalent "EEPROM" memory;
-- 30323032 (JP 1.3); and
-- 30333033 (JP 1.3) - signature shared with the 1056 OCAP remote.

Atlas OCAP (1056 and 1056BC) (has a few more evident external differences):
- Separate "Menu" and "Settings" keys;
- "Exit" key moved up ABOVE the arrow key array;
-- this results in FIVE buttons between the "UP Arrow" and the Device keys rather than just the three on the other 2 remotes;
- there is an extra "D" key next to the three "A", "B", and "C" keys;
- Adds alphabetic characters to the numeric keys (like a phone keypad);
- has the middle "F" button enlarged, painted white, and labelled "ON DEMAND", whilst the other "F" keys are shrunken circular buttons;
- has a silver-colored variant (1056BC);
- shares signature 30333033 (JP1.3) with one of the 1055s above - a modified rdf is available.
- has about 4.5K of equivalent "EEPROM" memory.

ALL of these remotes:
- may or may not have learning capability. I expect the 1054 has no learning variant. At least the 1K EEPROM would suggest that is the case. Depending upon the cable provider's requirements with UEIC, the additional circuitry and alternate EEPROM size may be missing. There is no readily apparent way to tell this without opening up the remote (or simply trying to learn, I suppose).
- may or may not have UHF capability. There is an FCC document indicating at least one version of the 30323032 URC-1055 (oddly enough it is internally labelled as a URC-2150(?!)) has a UHF transmitter compatible with certain Cable boxes. This would have no effect on JP 1 programming;

- may or may not have backlighting. Of the Atlases I have seen personally or referred to in these fora, the 1056 (both colors) is the only one to have confirmed backlighting as an option;

- have three keys just below the "Mute"and "Last" keys that will have tailored labels for the cable provider. Note the difference in the 1056 OCAP remote in this regard. In UEIC literature, on the 1054 and 1055s, these unlabelled keys are referred to as "TuneIn1", "TuneIn2", and "TuneIn3", and on the 1056, they are labelled "F1", "On Demand", and "F2" respectively. Although they may have different labels in a particular cable provider's application, these are the names used in the software tools;

- most of these remotes have a silkscreened marking next to the 6-pin connector identifying whether it is JP 1, JP 1.2 (see the comment about the 10251025) or JP 1.3, but some may not. As only the 1054 is JP1 and the others are JP 1.x, it's no problem simply connecting the appropriate cable and downloading from the remote to identify what signature it has, and IR should automatically select the correct rdf (unless it's another new one Rolling Eyes )

I just received 2 of the OCAP remotes that I purchased off ebay and both show a signature of 30333033. They sure don't make this easy do they =)

So am I correct in concluding (from your other post) that you have BOTH a 1055 and a 1056 that have the same signature (30333033)?!?!?! Surprised

That is correct. Both a OCAP 1056 remote and 1055 remote with the same signature but a couple extra buttons on the OCAP 1056.

Just to verify the expected I received my 1056BC remotes and they do have the same 3033 sig as the standard OCAP remotes.

That's a relief. Just out of curiosity, are they backlit? Learners?

Of my array of Atlases, the 30003000 is the only one with activated learning. The 10251025 and 30333033 OCAP have "learning memory" but no learning circuitry.

All keys are backlit and the manual does indicate they are learning but I have not tested that yet.

What is the EEPROM size of each model?

The JP1 (URC-1054) has a 1K EEPROM.

The JP1.2 and 1.3 models (URC-1055 and 1056) all have the Flash ROM processor and have no separate and distinct EEPROM, but each has about 4K (with minor variations) of memory made available for upgrades, keymoves/macros and learning (even if learning is not activated).

I've added these notes to the initial post.

I have put together a chart of Atlas 5-device remotes that have been seen to date. Any additions/corrections are welcome.

A confusing mess it is, since AFAIK we have NOT seen learning variants of the 3032 and 3033 URC-1055's, nor a NON-learning or NON-backlit version of the URC-1056 (silver). Surprised

The 1055 with learning appears to be a 11055, whilst the 1056's with learning have a "-L" appended to their silkscreened name, and the battery compartment markings for the black AND silver backlit learning 1056 is 1056BC whereas the website leads one to believe that the BC refers to the silver one. Confused

RDF naming is becoming a real pita. Evil or Very Mad

The 3032 is the one mentioned at the FCC site and has UHF and I believe only MTS has this. The picture at the FCC also has the MTS logo on it. The user reported that it does seem to have learning capabilities, see this post

Just to add to the mess here.

I have Time Warner 1056B01 (Black) Battery Compartment 1056BG1.

ah...It has backlighting.

Sorry Capn Trips your XLS sheet says it does not.

please don't shoot the messenger.

Can't tell you the signature at this moment. This is one of those remotes that causes a problem with Tommy's new JP1.2/3 cable.

As a minor aside this remotes center section with the On Demand button has the left button labeled Help - OnDemand - Right button F1

Thank You

No shooting planned. I have come to expect this from UEIC Rolling Eyes

There has been no 1056 with a signature other than 30333033. Let's hope that you're not new in THAT regard! Rolling Eyes

Yeah, those labels are provider-specific and are on a peel-off sticker in that extremely shallow well surrounding those three buttons. I just remove that sticker to eliminate confusion.

Ok, my Atlas 1056BG1 (Time Warner) has the same 30333033 sig.

The nuisance is that those labels (on mine) Help - On Demand - F1

don't match the RDF's. So just a heads up on that.

The Help is F1 encoded and my F1 - is really F2.

So unless one changes the RDF keys using these keys in a macro will be incorrect.

Fun Fun till my wife takes my JPx away. (ha, fool her a have 2!)

Like I wrote above, that's a sticker, which you can remove and it will reveal F1-OnDemand-F2 labels beneath.

Do you actually use the "Help" button for "Help" functions for each device? That alone should be sufficient reason to pull the sticker off. Making it match the tools is another.
