Just a few words of encouragement to anyone considering using the URC-7530 with a JP1 interface.
I found only one mention of this particular model in the forums but was sufficiently inspired to attempt the necessary mods (addition of JP1, 1K EEPROM & C11 ) and the construction of a 'simple' interface.
I was pleasantly suprised when, after a few teething troubles, it actually worked perfectly.
In tools such as keymap-master and IR, I have simply treated the remote as if it were a 7540/7542, the only apparent difference being that the 7530 has one less device key.
I have managed to achieve my initial goal - to gain control of an APEX 1100W DVD player - by modifying the upgrade for that model in Keymap-master.

In that case, using JP1, you can unlock the hidden device key if you want an extra device mode. All you would need to do is program a macro to a spare button (or maybe a shifted device button) where one of the steps in the macro is the missing device button.

7540 doesn't support macros, which means that 7530 probably doesn't support them either.
