This is just for test right now, but I've built a special protocol that allows you to change the brightness on the 6960B00/9960B01 extender.

It's done as a device/protocol upgrade. Install the following into the remote (I think this will work on the non-extended remote as well but you can control the brightness through setup so this isn't as interesting)

URC-6960B00, Protocol 1FF

Code: Select all

00 00 01 F6 34 A0 48 84 E6 84 11 F6 34 7B 56 82
7F E6 F1 7F 6F 76 82 80 6B 23 F6 2C 5F A6 8C 01
BB EC E4 89 8B A6 8B 27 6B 05 F6 0D 07 8B DF 49
84 F6 34 7B AF
URC-9960B00, Protocol 1FF

Code: Select all

00 00 01 F6 08 16 48 85 E6 85 11 F6 07 F1 56 8B
7F E6 F1 FF 6F 76 8B 80 6B 23 F6 32 7D A6 92 01
BB EC E4 8F 91 A6 91 27 6B 05 F6 09 3C 8B DF 49
85 F6 07 F1 AF
Device for both, TV/1110

Code: Select all

FF 00 01
Make sure you check the protocol > FF box

After you install this, you can put a keymove that has a single key (doesn't matter what it is, this protocol ignores the key). When you press this, the screen will change to have only arrows on it and the device keys. up increases the brightness, down decreases, OK will return you to the previous screen and exit the protocol.

This will be built into the next release of the extender, but I figured I'd let people give it a shake-out. The code is pretty simple and uses the ROM to do most of the heavy lifting so it should be reasonably stable.

let me know if you have any issues. I've tested this on both the 6960 and the 9960.

enjoy!

This protocol is now included in the official released v1.01 of the extender so you no longer need to add it

is anyone (other than me) using this?
