Key Map or Button Name Error

Trying to transfer a Cinema6 KM device file for use on a 6960 but the load results in a "Key Map or Button Name Error" message.
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... ile_id=680
I have been unable to determine how to trace the cause of this error without success and searches on the messages here and web have come up empty.
Attempts to edit and remove buttons after the load have also yielded no success.
Anyone have any pointers?
Thanks in advance,
Beverly Howard

I tried opening it with KM and got the same error. I was able to open it and convert it to the 6960 with no trouble with RM. There may be a problem with the button names in KM file causing a mismatch in with something in KM.
I suggest you try RM until KM is fixed

For clarification, do you have a 6960 or 6690 remote?
In KM, there is no selection for a 6960 but there is one for the
URC-6690 (Hybrid Kameleon) that shows the error when selected. If you really have a 6960, then I think you can use the
URC-9960B01 (OFA Kameleon) in KM, which doesn't yield any error message.
The
Key Map or Button Name ERROR message itself is not fatal. It simply means there was a question regarding the actual buttons specified in a key map in one or more given device modes between KM and the RDF at the time KM was updated to support the remote..

Dyslexia strikes again... I am constantly amazed by holding similar but different numbers up side by side and still perceiving that they match... the bad news is that it seems to be getting worse as I age... <sigh>
Thanks! I've spent (wasted) a lot of time on this one and appreciate being put back on track as well as the clarification of the message source.
I tried it
Thanks for the confirmation... based on Mark's perceptive catch, gonna remain with KM as I have a lot of hours invested in learning it along with not having much success with RM when I was comparing the two a year or so ago.
Thanks again,

As Mark said, you get the error with the URC-6690 (not the URC-6960) when the DVD keymap is selected. There is an error in the keymaps in the remote itself where the DVD keymap is not terminated correctly and it concatenates with another keymap. I inadvertantly copied this error into KM's keymaps, which results in the error message you are seeing. The error is because KM doesn't expect the same button to appear twice in the keymap, which is the case with this erroneous keymap.
It will be fixed in the next release, but if you want to fix it in KM v9.08 yourself, unhide the URC sheet and delete rows 94 to 121.

Thanks guys...
Think I'm finally on my way to modifying and transferring device upgrades I built over a year and a half ago.
The URC-6960 is interesting... looking forward to learning how to exploit it's apparent capabilities as best I can.
The only real wish at the moment would be to be able to reduce the sensitivity of the motion sensor to be able to use it... as is, a moth flys by and it turns itself on if that's activated
Thanks to all,
