Is prototype 10 still available? The link doesn't work and I can't find it. I'm having trouble getting 12 to work, it closes up as soon as I hit capture.

I'm pretty sure this failure is because porttalk isn't properly installed. Unfortunately, I'm not very expert on the topic of installing porttalk correctly.

John,
im able to use digitrac using the shortcut for allowio("C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\remote\CaptureIR\AllowIo.exe" digitrac 0x378) so porttalk seems to be working. Do you know anyway for me to get protocol 10 ?

John, I came across another post where you helped by having captureir start from a bat that did the trick for me. Thanks!!

Do we have any Java or Porttalk experts reading this thread, who might help me figure out what is going on?

On most systems I've tried, CaptureIR works fine. On at least one system, I sometimes (not always) get the problem reported here: CaptureIR fails to initialize Porttalk when I double click the .jar file, but works when I start the java.exe through a .bat file passing the name of the .jar file.

It might help to find out what is associated with .jar files.

From the command line, run the command
Code:
assoc .jar

This will look something like
Code:
.jar=jarfile

Now use those results to run the ftype command, something like
Code:
ftype jarfile
Here's what I get on my system:
Code:
C:\>assoc .jar
.jar=jarfile

C:\>ftype jarfile
jarfile="C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*

THis may shed some light on what is different between double-clicking a .jar file and running it using a .bat file
