I just finished extending my URC9911. I view this as quite a technician feat on my part! It was quite fun and a challenge too. I'm a tinkerer so I know it's setup will never be final!
I was able to overcome all previous obstacles on my own by searching this forum and learning from those before me.
I am using the extender3 for this remote and in the ReadMe it mentions editing the RDF file to change the names of the logical devices to match the special protocals to make key moves easier to follow. Also, I've read posts about editing the RDFs to add more phantom keys if space allows (which I'd like to do).
My problem is I don't know how to even open the RDF, apparently I don't have a program to do this?
Can anyone help me out?
PS, I heard a joke on SNL a while back that said the inventor of the remote control died recently. They buried him between 2 giant sofa cushions. It made me think of all you (us) JP1ers out there! |

There is no special program to do this. Simply use the notepad. The only thing, you have to understand the contents of the RDF. 8)

Wow, that was easy.
Maybe I shouldn't touch the RDF file since I couldn't even that out!
Thanks for you help. |
