I found this site while looking for some information on a newly acquired URC-8910. I am posting now to say that I have successfully upgraded my remote to do all of the things I wanted it to do (almost, hehe). This site is a fabulous treasure trove of information. I know that Rob and all of the senior members here have worked very hard to make all of the information a newbie might need readily available and quite frankly all of you deserve a big pat on the back.

The only suggestion I might make is that you add a forum to the 'non JP1' section where you can 'sticky' the Remote Control specific details about upgrading a particular remote. The information is already scattered in hundreds of threads, but newbies often seem to have a very hard time with the 'search button' and want a personal answer to their very common questions. I know this is not exactly the intent of this site, but if newbies are going to find the site, they are going to ask their questions.

While there is little I can offer that is not already covered innumerable times here, I would be happy to write a detailed 'How To' for the NON-JP1 newbie wanting to upgrade the URC-8910. Please let me know if you would like me to do this. Either way, I would like to thank everyone here who has worked so hard to make upgrading a remote easy.
