Set a Delay in the Remote

Is there a way to set a delay into the button code for a remote? I have a new front projector (Optima HD70) which goes through a shut down procedure. You press the power button once and then you press it a second time to shut it down. After the second power button push, the fan runs for 10 seconds prior to it shutting off. I have my system set to turn all my equiment off when I push the power button on the remote. If I do that now it shuts the power off to the projector before it can go through its shutdown sequence. Is there a way to program a delay in the sequence between telling the projector to turn off and telling the receiver to shut off. (The projector power is plugged into the receiver).
