HI,

1) Are the Kameleon Generation III (URC8305, 8308) available in the US?

2) Are they jp remotes?

3) I have seen the web site http://www.oneforallkameleon.com/kameleon.php

4) Any other info will be helpful.

Sorry if this topic is redundant. I did a search on 8308 and 8305 and nothing came up.

Thank you!

Nobody has reported owning one of these remotes yet. My guess is that they are just for the European market and won't be sold here, but thanks to the wonders of the internet, you should be able to buy one if you really want to.

My guess is that they are JP1.2 or JP1.3 remotes, so you'd need a JP1.2 cable to program them.

There's one on ebay currently, but it looks like it's being shipped from UK, so probably it's a bit expensive.

If you look at UK eBay pages most are going for in excess of £50 (=$100 thanks to current easy £/$ conversion rate) so if you really, really want one then go for it. Looks good but then so did my URC8040 when I bought it and now it sits in the drawer while my $20 URC8910 does the work.

I asked that ebay seller what it would cost to ship to the States and he said £20 (ie, $35-40). I also asked him if it had a JP1 connector but he didn't want to open the box to take a look.

I had a look at a Kameleon URC-8308 recently. AFAICS there was no easy way to open the remote at all so couldn't even start to look for any connectors. The batteries were stored in a tube covered by a screw cap.

I have succeeded in opening the case of urc 8305 and I found 6 pin pad labeled as jp1.1. Does this mean that it is jp1.1?

I will upload the image of the board if it is acceptable to this forum.

It implies that it's JP1.1 but it doesn't guarantee it because we have seen remotes be mis-labelled. However, I think it does pretty much guarantee that it's some sort of JP1.x remote, so if you get a JP1.x cable (rather than a dedicated JP1.2 cable) it should work with this remote.

Could you tell me the steps to follow to test 8305 in regards of jp1.x?
I think IR, RM and KM do not support 8305 yet.

It doesn't matter if an rdf exists. IR can still DOWNLOAD from a remote if it has communication with it. If it downloads, then you have the correct cable. Your raw IR file will have the signature as the first 8 bytes.

Sure...

1. Connect remote to JP1.x cable.
2. Fire up IR.exe
3. Click "Download from remote"

I have uploaded raw IR file(see http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4773) downloaded from URC-8305 with JP1.x interface.

In the beginning of the download, IR says about missing RDF for signature 11221122.

Could you tell me where to find the proper RDF?

What is the difference between JP1.2 and JP1.3?

Remote Chart says URC-8305 is JP1.3.

JP1.2 remotes use a Freescale/Motorola HCS08 processor
JP1.3 remotes use a Samsng S3F8 processor

We don't have an RDF for this remote yet, so we'll need to create one with your help.
