I have a URC 8910 and just received and started to use JP1. I cannot seem to get any momentum here and feel quite ignorant.
What I have tried to accomplish without much success:
1 - Key Move: QUESTION is how I get the EFC/HEX command for my devices in the IR program. PROBLEM is I get a reply that I must specify a function value when trying to do a key move. I can see that I probably need to specify a EFC/HEX command. I then went to the Devices tab in the IR program to see what the EFC/HEX command to use but it only has uploaded functions for my receiver and DVD player and nothing else. However, the other functions (such as the satellite, TV, etc.) are "supported" as they are currently have a code for the remote and operate fine.
2 - Receiver Power On/Off: QUESTION using the code listed in my remote manual, the receiver powers on and not off. I can "learn" the operation but can it work as one key rather than a second learned key.
3 - New Codes: QUESTION do I need to send the remote to the manufacturer to add a new code on an upgradable remote or is it just as easy to find a useable code on this site. I purchased an Onkyo Receiver HT-S790 and UEI indicated that I should use code 1320 for this receiver, which is not currently in the remote. I did a search on this site but could not locate this code.
4 - Is there a general user manual with for the IR program. I did see the beginner guide and did some searches but really could not find answers to my aforementioned questions, which are probably pretty basic to the average user.
Thanks.

I take it you are using a code from the built-in library. Now you want to do a keymove for that value.

There are a number of different ways to get that EFC. If the function already works, and you just want to do a keymove you can do it manually and take a look at in IR. Or you can see if there is a sheet in Rob's advanced codes for the setup code you are using.
Or you can look through the upgrades here to see if anyone has posted a similar item's upgrade.
Yes, you could use TOADTog but that's quite tricky. You might want to start by putting the power off button as a keymove to the Shift-power button.2 Receiver Power On/Off: QUESTION using the code listed in my remote manual, the receiver powers on and not off. Nope, this one is equipped with a modem. You can get your upgrade via wav over the phone, or you could create your own upgrade using KM or RM and upload it through IR.

There are some excellent documents in the help section. All the information you are looking for is on the site. Its just scattered around.

I'm trying to put the basics in a help file. It's up in the help files too. It's still in rough shape, but its a huge amount of information. Like you I'm a newbie, and I know it makes my head hurt when I come back in here to try and get the information I'd need.
