Problems Getting upgrade to work

I am new to this but am fairly good at following directions. I am trying to make an upgrade to control my Polk audio xm satellite receiver. I have an rcu810 learning remote and I learned all of the keys I wanted and put everything into KM and when I try and put it into IR it doesn't give me the option to assign it to a device key. The remote works just from doing the learn but the memory is now full. I would post the file but I am not sure how to.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Well, if your upgrade has no keymoves, IR has no reason to prompt you to assign it to a Device. You must do this manually on the General Tab. Just go there and assign the device type and type in th setup code for whatever device button youwant it asigned to.
As for posting files, up above is a button that looks like this:
File Section
Click it and once there go to the diagnosis area. Near the top of THAT page is button that looks like this:
Click it and follow the template.
PLEASE post a link to your newly-uploaded file here in the thread, so we don't have to go searching for it.

O.K. thanks. I think I got that part now but I got everything loaded into the remote and the upgrade doesn't work. When I did the learn everything worked but in the decode it says it could be 3 different EFC codes but it only gives one OBC code so that's what I used. I went back and tried to change and go through all 3 codes but I still couldn't get it to work.
Thanks

We can't guess what went wrong.
If you post two or three files in the diagnosis area, we can see what went wrong:
1) A .ir file matching exactly what you tested when you did the upgrade using the OBC number. If you didn't save that file then, reproduce the file, save right before uploading to the remote, and retest.
2) The .ir file with the learned signals that you got the decodes from.
3) Maybe we'll also want to see a .txt file saved from KM with your upgrade in it.
Follow the instructions Capn Trips put in post 2 of this thread.

You mentioned EFCs and OBCs but you didn't mention the protocol or the device code that was shown in the learned signals. Was this just an oversight in your posting, or was it an oversight in the formation of the upgrade?

The protocol name was RC-5 and the device number was 27. I will post the requested files in the diagnosis area.
Thanks

I found your learned signals file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4054
and KM file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4053
which was enough to see the problem.
There is a weird rule in KM for RC5 protocol for OBC numbers greater than 63. You need to add 100 to the device number, so in this case use device 127 as one of the three devices and select that one for all functions whose OBC is greater than 63, which so far as I can tell from your learned signals is all functions.
So you can fix it by just changing the device number from 27 to 127.
RC5 is a lot clearer in RM than in KM, but even in KM it's all explained by the protocol help.

I was going to post a link to the files but I see you found them. I made the change now it works. Thanks for all of the input.

OK so I thought everything worked except I lost my VPT to the stereo when using the remote in the aux mode to control my xm receiver. Is there something I can add to fix this or is it something I just have to live with.
Thanks

Are you using a device upgrade for your XM receiver? If so, what is its device type? VPT "breaks" when the device type of an assigned setup code does not match the "natural" device type of its assigned device button, so for the AUX button, if your XM receiver's device type is CBL, then VPT won't work. You have two options:
(1) change your upgrade to be an Audio device type (AMP, RCVR, or MISC) (which may create a few more keymoves), or
(2) make three keymoves for the AUX mode to assign the desired functions to Vol+, Vol- and Mute.
Your choice.
