Hi everybody! I just bought two 8910's from Rob, and built a simple cable myself. The cable is a bit iffy, but I can get it to work.
I've successfully programmed the 8910. It did my TV and cable box perfectly. VCR well, but I need to learn at least one button, and DVD not at all.
I found a device upgrade file for my DVD player, and managed to use KM+IR to load it in, and now the DVD works great, I'm happy!
But, I'm having trouble figuring out the more advanced features.
My VCR has a "commercial skip" feature, where it will fast forward an exact multiple of 30 seconds. I can use the built in learning to get it in "L1". I'd like to put it on the real "Com/Skip" button, but I can't see how.
Should I be using KM? If so, can I get the default VCR/0162 settings out of IR to start from or do I have to somehow build it all from scratch? |

The COMM/SKIP button is tricky as it's not designed to be programmable in any shape of fashion by the end user, so neither learning, keymoves nor an upgrade can be used to program it. The only way for you to be able to program it is if you use the extender, then you can program any button to do anything.
Also, just in case you didn't know, you're not restricted to just learning on the "L" buttons, you can learn to most of the other buttons also. _________________ Rob

I should have suspected! In that case, time to get to work on learning the extender. |

It will be time well spent. You will likely want to use other features of the awesome 8910 extender as you get used to things. My favorite is having a long press on the device keys switch my equipment around for using said device.
