JP1 Remotes

Hi,

I'm trying to make a remote file for my Panasonic Hi-fi using RM.

I've got all the functions learned and into RM but they are not working - it was then I noticed that on each of the buttons, the Sub-Device is different, for example:

POWER:
- Device: 160
- Sub-Device: 28
- EFC: 024

Tuner/Band:
- Device: 160
- Sub-Device: 4
- EFC: 220

Play:
- Device: 160
- Sub-Device: 10
- EFC: 055

As RM requires you to enter the Sub-Device for the whole device, how do I get this working?

Sorry, forgot to mention, i've tried the "Panasonic Mixed Combo" and "Panasonic Combo" protocols and can't seem to get the buttons above working on it (although maybe i'm using the wrong values?

Can anyone tell me which I should be using and what I should be entering?

Instead of choosing the Panasonic protocol on the setup sheet in RM, choose the Panasonic Combo protocol.

Most of the Panasonic protocol choices in RM send the same signals. The differ only in which sets of signals can be combined in one upgrade. More than one of those choices can handle the combination you want. Depending on which JP1 remote you have, one of those choices might save upgrade memory vs. another. But "Panasonic Combo" should be easiest to understand (and might be smallest).

The ones that do NOT send the same signals are Panasonic(old) and the Panasonic2 choices. Other than those, select any Panasonic choice, read the protocol notes, and see if it generates the set of signals you want.

Edit: I typed the above before seeing your second post. I don't have a guess what you did wrong in those two Panasonic Combo choices. Either should have worked. If you post those rmdu files in the diagnosis folder and the URL back here, I can look and see what went wrong.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I just tried Panasonic Combo, setting the main device to 160 and leaving the OEM fields blank.

I added the protocol to IR and the Device.

Any ideas or shall I post the RM file?

In rm are you maybe forgetting to put the sub device for each function in the sub device column under the function tab?

Ian, you've obviously made a mistake setting up the file, so rather than have us guess as to what that mistake might be, you should load the file into the Diagnosis Area (and post a link to it) so we can see what it is.

Btw, did you try either of the upgrades files that John linked to?
