How to install Netgear_MP101 upgrade on a URC-7555?

Post by cheapskate »

Hi,

is it possible to install Netgear_MP101.txt on to my URC-7555?
(It uses a protocol upgrade)

I tried loading MP101.txt into KM, but KM does not list the URC-7555.

There is a .rdf for the URC-7555, so I loaded MP101.txt into RM. RM warns that 'The selected protocol "Manual Settings" (01 2A) is not compatible with the selected remote'. I carried on anyway.

I tried pasting the Protocol Code from KM into the Protocol tab of IR (I tried both the S3C8 and the P8/740) before I pasted the device upgrade into the Device tab.

When I try the remote, it seems to crash: when I press a button associated with the MP101, the device LED turns on and stays on! This is true with the S3C8 and the P8/740 code.

Is the URC-7555 capable of taking the protocol upgrade?

Many thanks!

BTW: though a beginner at this, I have successfully loaded some .rmdu's, so I have proved that the basic stuff works.

The URC-7555 RDF needs to be updated. Open up the RDF in a text editor and find the [Protocols] section. Look for 012A and change it to 012A:2.

Thanks for the reply.
Changing 012A to 012A:2 in the .rdf does not seem to help.
RM still complains that the protocol is not compatible with the remote.

Just to check I am following the correct procedure...
Double click on rmaster.bat
File > Open > KeyMapMaster device upgrade files > Netgear_MP101.txt
The Remote box now shows URC-9910(new).
Pull down the Remote box and select the URC-7555.
Then I get the error popup.

It seems like the URC-7555 already has 012A protocol built in. So it might work if you just don't paste in the protocol upgrade. URC-7555 uses the newer HCS08 chip, and putting in those protocol upgrades for the different chips is interfering.

If that doesn't work, see if the rmdu file I upload here works:

I just changed the protocol it is using to MCE (which is what 012A is) and put in what I think is the device number based on the original file. Also, use the latest Remotemaster (7beta3, currently).[EDIT] Sorry, v1.73, I get confused with all the different applications.

Brilliant! Thank you.
I think it needed all three elements... :2 in the rdf, the .rdmu which uses the internal protocol, and the lastest RM (1.73).
