I have created an upgrade for you to try in your URC-8910. I have assigned the 4 buttons to the 4 arrow buttons. In order to create a KM file for this, I would need to know what the 4 functions are.
Upgrade Code 0 = DF D0 (Home Auto/2000) Russel Hobbs Tower Fan (KM v8.43)
FF 00 06 C1 24 F8 BC EC DC
End
Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8+) Russel Hobbs Tower Fan (PB v4.00)
43 8C 11 8B 0E 85 01 06 06 00 D3 02 66 02 7A 00
BF 0D 37 8D 01 46

Thanx for the quick response.
I haven't had time to actually get the new protocol onto my remote, but will be doing so over the weekend.
I'll be playing with KM myself a bit, but thanx anyway.
A question: Do I need to load the protocol onto the remote and re-learn the commands to get sinceable values that I can enter into KM or how did you get the EFC value to enter into KM?

You don't need to relearn anything. You just need to cut & paste the two blocks of code (ie, one device upgrade and one protocol upgrade) into IR, then yu need to assign HOME/2000 to one of the device buttons. You don't need to use KM or RM for this exercise.
If you use AUX, make sure that you delete your old learned signals, or they will override the upgrade.
The one piece of info I do need from you in the meantime, is what do these buttons actually do? In other words, how are the buttons labelled on the original remote and, if it's not obvious, what function do they perform? Please also state which button you learned them to (ie, POWER, MOVE, SWAP and SLEEP) so I know which codes goes with each function. _________________ Rob

Hi.
I've tried the protocol and devices upgrades you posted , but no luck.
I've relearned all commands and u/l it again.

Power => Power
Left => Wind Effect
Right => Speed
Up => Oscillate
Down => Timer
In stead of you just giving me the upgrades, how does one go about decoding the learned commands into a protocol and devices codes(EFC).
Thanks for all the help. |

The tool you would use to create the new executor is called "Protocol Builder" and there is a Word doc that I put together that describes how to use it.
Basically, you need to cut & paste all the learned timings from IR over to Notepad (or any text editor), then you need to identify which pair you will call "ONE" and which pair you will call "ZERO". THen you use this info in the PB spreadsheet to create the executor.
I'm glossing over alot of it because I don't have the time to write a complete tutorial here, but hopefully the word doc explains it in more detail for you. _________________ Rob

I've compared the timings produced by my protocol and they're almost identical to the ones from the OEM remote, so I'd like to eliminate the possibility that this is a case of user error before I try and fix the executor.
Therefore I have added the upgrade to your IR file myself. I've assigned it to the AUX button and I've laid out the functions exactly how you learned them. Could you load this IR file into your remote and try it out please.
