Hi guys,

I've made simple JP1 LPT interface for my URC-8017 (=8011) and simple GetIR COM interface for my PC. They all work fine. I've read lots of menu, still have some question need help.

Whe I try to save file that I've modified some button's map. I all got "1004 - Class Workbook SaveAs Failed" error, and it doesn't save my text files. How do I solve this problem?

How do I export/save IR's data file to Keymap-master format?

I have some non-public remote controllers - ie. Telecaption 4000 (Closed Caption Decoder). I can get each button's two OBC bytes from Girder.exe. The second byte is button's HEX function code, but no Protocol Name/ID/Fixed Data. If I want to add these devices to URC-801x, how do I know their Setup Code that won't confilct with others on Rob's data base and their Protocol Name/ID/Fixed Data?

There is one "ov" column in Functions / Keymap-master, what it is?

I can get raw data in GetIr.xls, but DecodeIr seems not work. Where I can find GetIr.xls menu to active it?

There is "Learned Signals" function to get Ir code from DecodeIR. How do I install/active this driver and get raw data to decode Protocol/Device?

When I set "Shift" at checked/Yes, does it mean I already active extender in this OFA URC-801x?

TIA

Are you talking about KM? If so, you use the SAVE button on the Setup sheet to save the device upgrade file. You do NOT use the regular Excel File|Save or File|Save As commands.

You can't. IR files are not useable in KM. You create upgrades in KM, and then copy & paste the code into IR to upload to the remote.

The "ov" column contains overflow data. It's not a field you can edit as the contents are calculated based on the entered EFC or OBC.

Make sure you get the latest version of IR from the Files section at Yahoo. It comes with the latest version of the decoder .dll file.

No, one has nothing to do with the other. Where are you setting "Shift"? In IR?... KM?... somewhere else?

I think he's talking about the GetIR.xls spreadsheet, not IR, as the 8017 is not a learning remote. There is a button in that spreadsheet that will cause it to call DecodeIR, but I'm not sure where it is looking for it to reside. I would imagine it would work if DecodeIR.dll was in the System or System32 directory, but the GetIR documentation is not clear on this.

Thanks for your help.

@Mark Pierson,
The problem is in save button. I know save from menu-file will save entire KM.

I'm getting use to IR & KM. It's pity that IR file can't export to KM for easier update key position.

I'm using IR401. I just can't find any button can get remote control IR signal for decoding.

I can set IR shift check or put Key in KM shift position. They all work on 8017 "set" as shift function. I still can't figure out it's on extender activated or not yet.

@mr_d_p_gumby
Yes, GetIR.xls spreadsheet lack of menu. So I can't decode original signal to HEX format. I've read other explanation document about long signal represent to 1 and short one represent to 0. But if I can use DecodeIR function, then I don't need waste lots of time to count each bit, am I right?

Any suggestion for which software that I can read original remote control protocol's ID? I can use Girder.exe to get regular button byte at second byte. But this software can't show pioneer's long/multi byte command. I need one good software to get whole string.

One more thing about hard ware - If I change 24lc16 EEPROM to 24lc64 and above on URC-8017 and 8910 and 9600 that I want to buy a new one. Can I use all EEPROM for 8K byte? 24lc16 only has around 200 byte for key move. It's almost full at my own purpose.

When you click the SAVE button, you're getting the error? That's strange, and also the first time of heard of a problem with it.

What version of KM are you using?
Are you enabling macros when you open KM?
Can you give me the EXACT wording of the error message?

IR can only extract and decode learned signals from the remote. Since you have a non-learning remote, it won't help you any.

The Shift settings on individual buttons have nothing to do with the extender.

To activate the extender, press TV and then Power after EVERY reset of the remote. The LED should blink times if it activates properly. You need to do this everytime you up or download in IR, and usually when you change batteries.

GetIR uses this folder by default to store its dll and the decoder dll:

C:\Program Files\Utils\GetIR

Make sure you put the latest version of the decoder dll in that folder.

I can't post the screen shot. It is -

"The following error occurred while attempting to SAVE
C:\Program Files\IR remote control\JP1\Keymap-master\anyfile.txt

1004 - Class Workbook 的 SaveAs 方法失敗."

I'm using KMv8.05 in Chinese XP with Macro enable in Excel. I have same problem on v8.02~8.05.

Thanks for other reply. It helps.

GetIR.xls use it's fixed folder! That's why I have problem. I'll try to change this and see what will happens.

I'm sure it has something to do with the Chinese language support, and I haven't got a clue as to how to fix it! Confused Is Excel (or Office) also the Chinese language version?

Are you using an exisiting upgrade file and then trying to resave it using the same name? What happens if you use a simple name like "KM_Test"... do you still get the error?

If you know how to edit VBA code, there's something I'd like you to try:

Open KM.
Open the VBA Editor (Tools|Macro|Visual Basic Editor).
Under the KM project, open Modules.
Under Modules, open KM_Routines.
Go to the UpgradeSAVE procedure and look for this line of code:
Code:
NewOutput.SaveAs FileName:=fName, FileFormat:=xlCSVWindows
At the end of that line, add ", local:=True" (ignore quotes) so that the line looks like:
Code:
NewOutput.SaveAs FileName:=fName, FileFormat:=xlCSVWindows, local:=True
Go back to KM and try the SAVE button.

Do you still get the error?

Nope, I did modify VB and no luck. I also have tried to save as DN.txt. It still won't save it.

Is there any way you can translate that Chinese error message into English for me so that I can try to track down another solution?

Can you tell me what messages (if any) you get AFTER pressing SAVE and BEFORE seeing the error message?
