I am trying to upgrade my URC-8810 to control my Toshiba DR-4 DVD-R. I do not have the original remote anymore, so I cannot "learn" the functions on my 8810.
Can anyone give me the step-by-step instructions on how to create and load a .wav file to my remote?

Hers's a link to an upgrade file that may work with your Toshiba.

I think that there's a program that will convert it to a wave file. It's called IRtoWAV. Here is a link.

You may have to do a little research on your own...Jack

The process is indeed not trivial, but can be done.
(1) You first have to build your upgrade using either KM or RM.
(2) Next you have to copy the upgrade data from KM or RM into IR.
(3) Then, in IR, you select export to .wav from the file menu.
Steps 1 and 2 are described in great detaile in the first link in the Begineer's Read This First sticky post (linked in my sig below)
Step 3 requires (as irs said) that you download IRtoWAV and its associated files into the same directory as IR.exe, and then from IR, you can create the .wav file.

I don't think the URC-8810 supports .wav file upgrades. At least that's what the
Chart of JP1 remotes shows.

Do you really mean 8810, not 8910?
You can't use a .wav file with an 8810. You need a JP1 cable to load an upgrade. (You can use .wav files with an 8910).
