Hi All,
Great site, just found JP-1 around a week ago and I'm liking it so far. I just got
my JP-1 cable in and managed to create my first upgraded setup code
First of all I guess I should list my equip.
8810w Remote
GE TV
Toshiba DVD SD-1200
RCA VCR
Technics Reciever SA-EX300
Technics CD Player SL-MC300 (created the upgrade for this and uploaded it)
Xbox Running Mythtv
I used the advanced EFC tables to create the upgrade. The question is I want to add
the volume +/- and mute from the Reciever to the upgraded code. Is this possible?
I currently got around this by doing a keymove on the remote to manually move those
keys over. Is that the standard way to do it?
Also some more newbie questions (sorry ) I'm seeing a lot of mention about LKP/SKP, discrete codes, Toadtod etc. But I'm having trouble finding the discrete codes and stuff. Is there a good resource availailable like the advanced code ecf pages? Or just on the advanced procedures? I would really like to get the different power up/configure tuner macros working.
Thanks for the great site and info.
Kach
PS Just think, I was about to buy a $100+ dollar remote before find this site |

I'm assuming what you want is for the volume buttons on the remote to always control the receiver instead of the TV. If that's the case there's a neat little feature of the remote called Virtual Punch Through that lets you assign what device the audio buttons will always control. In IR look at "Other Settings" on the first tab. Scroll down to "VPT Status", turn it on. Next go to "VPT device", and select receiver. Then go through the various devices you have under TV/VPT just below that, and turn on all the device modes you want the VPT to work in. Don't forget to delete your keymoves to avoid confusion. |

Thanks for the reply ClaudeS
I tried that and it works. Now I'm playing around with the extender. I am using it to change vol for the cd player |

To find discrete commands first look at http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/discrete.shtml for generic discrete commands by brand and then http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/adv-codes.shtml by setup code.
Toshiba DVD's do not have discrete power commands but they do turn On from Off with a Play command so a macro for Play|Stop=On and Play|Power Toggle=Off. Your CD and VCR may do the same.
Technics is made by Panasonic and the generic Panasonic commands may work. Also many receivers turn On from Off when you select an input command.
GE and RCA may have discrete commands. If you give me a list of OFA setup codes that these devcies respond to I can give you a more specific answer. _________________ -Jon |

Thanks Jon,
Made a lot of headway today. Got the extender mostly working. These are the codes I use:
Using discrete codes for tv and vcr, toadtog for everything else
TV=0047
VCR=0060
DVD=0503
AUX =0522
CD=1303
RCVR=1308
I am using the 6012 extender ver 3.1 and followed the Mini tutorial in the files section. So far I have the TV, VCR, and DVD working with the extender.
If I do a SKP on a device key, it turns on the required equip.
SKP on power cycles power for that device.
LKP on power turns everything off.
The problems I am having now are these:
When I do the LKP Power to turn everything off the DVD player sometimes turns on.
The RCVR and CD player don't work at all. I have tried the discrete panasonic cmds.
After I get the RCVR working I would like to be able
to cycle inputs on the reciever using only one/two keys. (haven't looked into this yet)
Guess this is getting a bit OT for the beginner forum. I uploaded my IR dump to the diag section, it is labeled 8810w-extender-test, if anyone want to take a peak.
Thanks for all the help. |

Nice got everything working. I upgraded setup code 0039 for my RCVR and used the discrete codes 026/022. They also worked for the CD player. Everything is using discrete codes now except for the DVD player.
To fix the DVD player issue I just took it out of the Phantom 4 macro. And for the RCVR inputs I mapped them to the arrow keys instead of the numbers.
Uploaded it to the files sections if anyone wants to take a look
Any comments on how to improve it are welcomed. Thanks for the great forum! |
