I am not sure where to post this as I am new to the board but after a search I found several refferences to this remote here as well as info on resets so here goes

I recently bought a "new" Motorola DCP501 and after 6 months the remote seems to have "bit the dust" - I have seen a post that suggested removing batteries and the light would blink twice to allow reprogramming but none of the keys seem to respond

I would hate to spend more then the unit to buy a remote - and I cannot find control codes for Motorola anywhere

Any suggestions at all would be appreaciated

You can control most Motorola STBs using CBL/0476 with "One For All" remotes, so if you do decide to ditch the remote, an OFA remote should work.

False economy. If the unit means that much to you, then it wouldn't hust to spend a bit to get a remote for it, Of course, there is a practical limit in everything, and you can probaly fine an OFA remote works fine for it.

0476 will likely opperate the cable box part of the unit but you will want all of it to work. If a replacement remote cost that much, you would be better off getting a jp1 remote and cable from Rob and using the upgrade for the unit that is in the file area, under ht systems.

If 'General Instruments' or 'GI' is listed, that code will generally work with any remote. Motorola bought them a few years ago.

There is some information at the end of the page here:
