"Invalid..." loading IR txt files

Any assistance as to what might be causing problems with files I have downloaded from https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... y&cat_id=5 will be very much appreciated.

IR fails when loading with an "invalid character in input" pane. Sample files are:

http://tinyurl.com/s77uf (Pioneer_DV525_-_DVD-0571.txt) [URC-7560]
http://tinyurl.com/oddgl (Pioneer DV-444 DVD 1571.txt) [15-1994]
http://tinyurl.com/mlgq2 (Pioneer_Region_Free_DVD.txt) [URC-6131]

The files can be opened with a text editor, and they have no special characters. They are for various remote types, and the IR directory has the correct support files.

None of the text files I have generated for myself in years past (with 4.01) have any problems i.e there are no issues with IR 6.20 loading my files. I have tried past versions of IR as well with similar results.

Whatever the cause for being unable to load is a mystery (I have used Keymapper and IR for years with nothing like this occurring before).

My thanks in advance for advice to solve this loading problem.

Those aren't IR files. They're upgrade files meant to be opened with KM or RM. Once edited for the desired remote type and button layout, the resulting upgrade code can then be copied and pasted over to IR.

From Pioneer Improved DVD0571 setup.rmdu

I extracted functions out of RM file into Excel in case any one wants to copy and paste the functions list into KM.

I was asked through pm to help with this one file (it's not mine), but I'm not sure what to help with really, what destination remote, or even what the issue is other than what Mark said.

Thunk, thunk, thunk.

That's the sound of my thick head bashing against the wall.

Whatever gave me the notion that these were IR files, must have downloaded into the wrong directory.

Thanks Mark
