I just had this unit installed and after searching for ir codes I found that it used the same as the R15. I tried that without success. Has anyone been able to program a urc 6131 for this device?

Are sure your HR20 is accepting IR commands and not set to RF? Because the HR20 does use the same IR commands as the R15.

I checked setup remote and it's set to IR. I did notice that in the IR.EXE the device for 1377 is set to protocol 162 but Protocol greater than FF is checked perhaps that's the problem.

Well I now have it working after rebuilding the IR file from scratch. The only thing I'm missing now is discrete codes for power on/off I found efc 128/129 at remote central but they don't work. Anyone have the working discrete codes?
Thanks, Ed

Thanks looks great, guess I should have waited a few days

.
Question does "30s slip (jump to end)" add a 30 sec skip?
Thanks, Ed

The "30s slip (jump to end)" code functions like the "advance" key on the original remote. That is, a short key press skips (slips) ahead 30 seconds in a recorded program. A long key press (about 2 seconds) jumps to the end of a recorded program.

How would one go about setting up a second remote for the HR20? My second HR20 operates on the "AV1" setting on the original remote and I used "00003" as the programming code.
Thanks for the help.

The hr20 only has two IR addresses, those are native codes 00001 & 00002. The oem remote can be set to codes 00003 & 00004 but they're useless with hr20 at this time.

Just double-checked to make sure - Mine is set to 00003. When I programmed it I tried several times over to get it to work with 00001 or 00002 then tried 00003 out of desperation. Only then did it work. My receivers were delivered on Oct 12th so maybe the new ones are different.

I've been examining my old DirecTivo files and reading about "Fixed Data" and it appears that just changing the fixed data value so that a separate device will be addressed will do the trick.
Is this correct? And, if I use my learning remote to learn one or two keys for the HR20 controlled by the AV1 setting will I be able to pull the fixed data value from that new information?
Am I on the right track or does someone need to slap me around a bit?

I'm sure the info you need can be easily extracted from a learned signal. Without reviewing some old threads, I can't tell you exactly how the learned signal results convert to fixed data. But if that isn't obvious once you have the learned signals, ask again and someone will provide better details.
