Problem: I get raw signal information from IR.exe while trying to read the IR codes.

Background: I've got a sling box on the Aminet 500. I've tried using the existing upgrade from the aminet 150. Some of the keys partially work. All of the working keys, when I click on the sling player interface, "double click" the button specified button/function (ie 1 = 11, ch+ = ch++, etc..). Beyond that however, only some of the keys work.

What I've done recently: I got the learning remonte (URC-8910). It works in that I've learned certain codes (for example the aminet remote has a TV and STB button. When I try to learn the TV ones, it does fine and gives me the protocol, device, obc, etc...) so it appears that everything is set up right. I put the latest DecodIR.dll in the folder with IR.exe.

I am trying to learn the codes for a DVR/PVR. Because there is not DVR/PRV button on the learning remote, I've been using the DVD button to learn (will that work?). When I try to learn the codes from the aminet remote I pick up the right codes for Vol + and - (protocol = nec2, device = 134, sub device = 2, obc = 12 (for vol +), hex = cf, efc =052) however, when I try to learn CH+ I get this:

frequency = 55172

Channel 1:
frequency = 55172
sent repeatedly while key is being held:
+1902 -1618 +814 -274 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +524 -290 +270 -552 +524 -558 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +524 -558 +524 -290 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -552 +270 -78198 +1902 -1618 +814 -274 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +524 -558 +270 -270 +524 -558 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +524 -558 +524 -290 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -270 +270 -552 +524 -558 +270 -78198

What do I need to do so that I can learn the codes?
Something I noticed is that for the Volume buttons there is a single light flash when I press those, when I press the other buttons that cannot be read, there is a continuous signal until you release the button. (I don't think that will be helpful, but I thought I'd throw it out there)

If anyone has any advice, I would very much appreciate it.

THe AmiNET remote obviously gives you the ability to program it so that the volume buttons work your TV, which is why you are seeing NEC signals coming from the volume buttons and different signals coming from the rest of the buttons.

Please learn as many buttons as you can and then save the IR file. Then, load it up to the Diagnosis Area for one of us to look at.

I've now posted IR files for the raw data for the learned signals in the diagnosis area.

The file names are:
Aminet500(1) - raw data for learned signals &
Aminet500(2) - raw data for other learned signals

Can anybody get the aminet500 working with the slingbox?

How much would it cost for someone to help me do it? I'm desperate!

I examined your signals earlier today and they're almost identical to those for the AmiNET110 that we decoded, but it looks like the device code byte is one bit shorter. I haven't had time to come up with a modified upgrade for it yet though.

I just took a closer look and the signals are exactly the same, so if the 110 upgrade didn't work for you, you must have done something wrong.

The 500 appears to have a few extra buttons though, so once you've verified that the 110 upgrade works, I'll add them to the 110 upgrade for you.

It appears that the problem has now been better isolated. Now, I need to figure out why the sling player double clicks the working buttons or why the slingbox sends out two signals for 1 click. (ie 1 = 11, ch+ = ch++, etc..).

It appears that others have had this problem for other devices. However, I've yet to see anyone solve the problem.

Rob, thanks a ton for your help. I'll let you know as soon as I can get the existing buttons working.

To Rob or whomever it may concern,

Is there any way that the IR outputs from the Aminet 110 upgrade could be putting out two bursts of the necessary IR output?

The reason I ask is because when I hit a button on the slingplayer, it says that there are "2 pending" ie two IR bursts to output to the DVR... (if I click a button fast enough over and over again, the "pending" number rises, until it has time to catch up on sending out the IR bursts)

Thus I wonder if the bin file I've created from the Aminet 110 upgrade is for some reason telling each button to output double what it should.

Thanks again Rob for all your help and patience with my questions.

Something I just realized as a possible reason the slingbox is double clicking, or not functioning properly:

In this article (http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/10580/), it says to figure out if you have the JU or PL IR blaster. For my slingbox it says that I have version 2 of the IR blaster. Version 2 = JU, version 2.1 = PL. I've not been able to get the slingbox working with the remote setting on JU chip..... However, my slingbox responds to a .bin file created with the PL chip setting (but double clicks). It should work with JU, not PL.

Thus, I wonder if that could be the root of my problem.

The main difference between JU and PL is that the bin files for the PL chip are encrypted, so that's not the problem.

I can't suggest anything else until I have a chance to learn the signals generated by my upgrade and compare them to the signals that you captured.

Does the upgrade work when used in the remote without double clicking?

I captured the IR signals from the slingbox. You can find them here:

The learning remote works with the Aminet500. It is just very sensitive. You have to consciously click the button fast, otherwise it will send out two signals, and do the double click deal.

Thus, I hypothesize that the slingbox doesn't know how to "click" fast enough, thus it is sending out two sets of the IR blast.

On the slingbox setup I've tried the different settings for the remote (ie...fast,medium,slow,1 zero, 2 zeros etc...) It seems to me that it's not something I will be able to fix by changing the standard settings on the slingbox. I assume that the slingbox is the problem, because everything else seems to be in place.

Anybody have any ideas?

Robman, I compared the codes I learned from the Slingbox IR blaster with the Aminet110 upgrade versus the codes that I learned from the actual Aminet remote. I compared the raw signals that are shown in IR.exe. I'm not sure if that is the right thing to compare, but here's what I found. The Slingbox with Upgrade - raw signals have a number of differences from the actual aminet remote raw signals.

With that in mind, any suggestions, thoughts...
