Need help with one learned function

Post by irs009 »

This KM file works perfectly except for the analog\digital function. which is assigned to the menu key of an 8910. It will toggle digital off but not back on. The next file is the IR file which has the learned code in it (TV: Menu) and it works well.

This signal uses the RC-5 protocol, which has a toggle bit built into it. Normally, when the RC-5 signal is learned is doesn't function properly. Learned RC-5 buttons will normally work once then not again. However, youa re saying that the learned button works properly (where the toggle bit will be permanently set in one position) but the upgrade function does not (where the toggle bit will change value each time the button is pressed), you say that it works once then not again.

Here's an experiment you can try. First, make sure that you're using an IR image that does not have the learned signal programmed. Then, press the MENU button once to toggle the analog/digital. Then, cover the IR emitter of the remote with your hand, and press the button again, then uncover it and press it once more. Does the third press work?

Regardless, the simple solution would be to just use the learned signal.

Thanks Robman, I'll try the experiment and probably use the learned signal. I was just trying to keep my options open for an extender.

Again, many thanks for looking at the files and offering your solutions, Jack
