JP1 Remotes

My URC 9910 can be upgraded via telephone, so I'm assuming that it has a built in modem or receiver of some kind and software that translates these audio signals into codes somewhere in the EEPROM. Thus, can one use JP1 to configure a remote and then upload this configuration to the remote using the computers' built in speaker or modem speaker? Or is cable really the best way to go because it gets directly to EEPROM? Hmm - I guess you would want to be able download from remote to computer and I suppose that would be difficult without a cable so maybe I've answered my own question but I will post this thread anyway just out of curiosity.

JP1 software can be used to create a .wav file to send part or all of the desired eeprom contents through a PC's speaker to the remote.

That process is harder than using the cable and you need a better understanding of JP1 concepts to build a .wav file than to use the cable, and as you noted the .wav file is one way, where both ways has significant advantage.

So the .wav method isn't very popular, but it is available.

If you've got kids, get a cable. Pretty soon they'll drop the remote (but will flatly deny it) and the rattling sound you here will be the modem receiver coil.

Actually, even if you don't have kids, just get a cable anyway as it is so much more flexible than blindly making WAVs and squawking them to your remote.
