Yep -

I opted for defining two devices 108 and 109 and keymoving. Rather than the combo upgrade. YMMV.

I used the file to create a new KM file for the 9800 (works), and 8090 (doesn't). While both have severe restrictions on mapping functions to keys, I can do enough control on the Onkyo NC-500 NetTune Receiver with the 9800, but the 8090 does nada. I will try the "different way". (Is it worth posting the 9800 KM file?)
