i have been having a problem setting up macros for my entertainment center. my Phillips fr-968 reciever requires a button hold to turn the power on or to switch inputs is there any way in IR to set this up? i am using a urc 8910 remote. everything else works great i can turn everything off with a macro i just cant turn the reciever on. any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no SIMPLE way to do this. From simplest to more complex, here are three possible methods:
(1) Have you tried several repeats of the button (have Power sent three or four times in succession)? Some components may see this as a single long button press.
(2) Otherwise, you may need to make a separate upgrade for this function, using the Device Combiner protocol. Although not obvious from its name, this custom protocol allows you to set the duration for individual signals.
It's hard to tell from your post, but are you a JP1 user? If not, you will need to become one. Have you any familiarity with the KM or RM programs yet? Are you using a device upgrade for the Phillips?
THIS UPGRADE in the file section uses precisely this technique. In fact, the use of Device Combiner seems to be almost REQUIRED since apparently Phillips uses the technique that for each input selection, it uses a different device/subdevice combination (sort of like RCA), which would require using separate upgrades for each OR use of Device Combiner. Open this upgrade in KM or RM and examine it, as well as the protocol help for the DC protocol.
(3) The third technique requires an expert here (of which I am NOT) to create for you a custom protocol with extended duration for you, but it appears that method 2 above has already been succesffully used, so that's what I recommend.

Well, if NOTHING works in the upgrade, it's likely that you have:
(1) not changed the remote in the upgrade file to 8910; AND/OR
(2) not copied and pasted the Protocol upgrade (in addition to the Device upgrade) that KM produces; AND/OR
(3) not assigned the upgrade to a device.
If you'd upload the KM file and the IR file you created, and post links to them here, someone could take a look and help.
As for duration in the Device Combiner, as I wrote before:
Open this upgrade in KM or RM and examine it, as well as the protocol help for the DC protocol.
... you should read the Protocol Help (it's one of the worksheets in KM - look at the tabs across the bottom) in KM for the DC protocol. It explains it pretty clearly.
