Sony slv-d370p dvd/vcr combo with Cinema7

Post by Eggman »

I am trying to control a new Sony SLV-D370P DVD/VCR combo unit with my trusted old Cinema7 remote (not JP1). Can anyone point me in the right direction for device codes? Having tried all the Sony codes under DVD and VCR got me nowhere, nor have I had any luck searching codes under DVD and VCR devices. Do these DVD-VCR combo units have a special trick (I had no trouble controlling my Sony DVD-only player before it died...). Thanks for any help.

BTW, the Sony OEM remote for this unit is model RMT-v501E...

The correct code for the Sony DVD/VCR combos is DVD/0864, but as you've probably already figured out, the code is too new to be in the old Cinema 7 remotes.

If your remote is a URC-7200, you should probably trade it in for a new one.

If your remote is a URC-7800, it can easily be modified to work with JP1. Once modified, you could load the JP1 upgrade into it and you'll be working your Sony in no time.

Thanks, Rob, for your advice. My Cinema7 is a URC-7800B00 - I've already put a JP1 cable with a 'male header' on order. By indicating that the 7800 will need to be 'modified', what exactly am I in for? Is my assumption correct that the JP1 'male header' will fit into and connect on the 7800's PCB holes, then I'll be ready to run ir.exe? Or am I missing something else? [/quote]

The "male header" that you will get with your JP1 cable is really just a standard 6-pin connector. The modification that I spoke of is simply the act of soldering this 6-pin into the vacant spot that you can see in your battery compartment.

It is possible to make a connection by inserting the 6-pin into the end of your JP1 cable and then just holding it in place, but it's not ideal and will involve a bit of trial and error to see where the sweet spot is.
