Discrete input codes for NEC 42MP2 Plasma TV not working

Using the upgrade files for both Remote Master and Keymap Master I have been unable to get discrete inputs working on my NEC 42MP2 plasma screen TV. The discrete power buttons work fine but not the inputs.

1. Device: NEC 42MP2 Plasma TV
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: ?
4. JP1 Remote model: URC-8910
5. JP1 user? yes
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? I got the Pronto IR codes for the RGB/PC1 input and loaded it into IR Tool but I honestly am not sure what to do with the output. IR Tool told me the code was a kenwood / yamaha and there was nothing in the "One Time" section, only the "Repeat' section.
9. Partially working setup code? Have not tested built-in setup codes.
10. Learning remote question? Can't learn discrete input codes.

As far as I can tell the 42MP2 simply doesn't respond to discrete input codes.

That sounds like you are not using the JP1 version of IRTool (or you don't have DecodeIR saved in it's directory) as the Kenwood/Yamaha signals should also give you a pop-up with the JP1 info (which would be NEC1).

If you want us to decode the Pronto hex for you, you'll need to post it.

Thanks for the reply.

Here is the Pronto IR code for the RGB/PC1 function I need.

0000 006c 0000 0022 0157 00ad 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 06be

When I run that through IRTool, I get a pop-up with the following info:

Protocol: NEC2
Device: 24.24
OBC: 193
EFC: 177

If you don't get that pop-up, you either have the wrong version of IRTool or you're not using DecodeIR.

When I put IRTool into the right folder I got the same pop up. I'm still not sure this helps me unfortunately.

You don't need IR Tool. There is a complete NEC plasma file in the file section with all of those functions. I should know, I built it.

Why don't you try THIS RM file? I built it for my NEC 42MP3 and I know it works.

The key is that you cannot use the NEC1 protocol, you must use the NEC 1 COMBO protocol, since some of the functions, in particular most of the discrete inputs, use NEC1 device 24, subdevice 24 whilst the majority of the basic functions use NEC1 Device 24 with NO subdevice. This combination cannot be recreated in a simple NEC1 upgrade.

If it's still not working, upload your KM or RM file and someone will have a look.

..and link to the file in this thread.

I tried all of the RM and KM files in the Files section. The problem was that any button I mapped to perform a discrete input section just wouldn't do anything. I'll have to look into changing the protocol.

I guess that you were righht the first time, then. (presuming you properly tested the functions)

What do you mean by:

? What protocol have you been using?

Upload the actual KM or RM file you're using and the IR file you're using, to see if there's some error that can be found there.

I'll have to check exactly when I get back to work tomorrow but I was working off of the RM file that you submitted.

I'm not sure if I was using NEC1 or NEC Combo and I'll have to check tomorrow.

Looking at the file FROM WHICH you modifed doesn't help. We know that worked for its author.

Upload the KM or RM file AFTER you've modified it (the EXACT upgrade from which you copied and pasted into IR), and the exact IR file you uploaded into your remote (the one that doesn't work).

Will do, thanks for the help.

Also, thanks for putting up with the noob in me. This is my first attempt at programming any kind of remote.
