Toshiba RD-XS34 with 15-2138 remote

I have succesfully followed the instructions to upgrade my remote via WAV for a Panasonic HT. But, I dont have the right codes for my RD-XS34.

I have tried the built-in 0503 code and the RD-X2 codes from the site.

The RD-XS34 has a setting that alows it to be set for 1 of 3 remotes: DR-1, DR-2, DR-3. In both cases the RD-XS34 panel displays DR-1, DR-2 or DR-3 meaning the remote is not coded the same as the DVD. Since the message comes up on the display, I think I'm close.

The remote that came with it (SE-R0144) can be changed to 1 of the 3 by holding down both CH keys and pressing either 1,2 or 3.

The 15-2138 can learn the codes, but I dont have a JP-1 cable to see what they are. Besides getting a cable, anyone have any advice?

Mine too.

If you want to tinker while you decide on a cable or not. There is a ccf in the pronto section for the rd-sx32 I think they are the same except the 32 has 80 gig hd and your 34 has 160 gig hd. So the remote is likely the same.

Yeah, but did that Pronto user bother to learn the mode-2 and mode-3 codes that srschalk is looking for?

Thanks for the help. I'll check on the ccf and I'll get a cable. It may take me a couple weeks, but I'll post back the codes when I have them figured out.

After looking at that ccf file. Robs upgrade here has it covered. So if you need another mode the cable is needed.

Played with some settihgs based on the ccf decode, went back to rhe RD-X2 settings and it magically started working. I have no idea what chaged but I have loaded it serval times and it is working.

While I was fiddling I tried some NECX1 device=45 sub device=45 efc's I found in the decode. I tried the RD-X2 with a parm=34 with no luck. I went back to the RD-X2 default parm=20 and it worked. I'm happy for now. I'll get a cable and see what is actually in this thing, but I loaded 2 full devices via WAV and it appears flawless.

The recorder is in mode 1.

Thanks all.
