JP1 Remotes

Hello all,

I'm trying to comply with the house rules, so here's my code request:

1. Device: Schneider 29M301

2. Type of device: TV

3. Year: 2004-2005, not sure

4. JP1 Remote model: URC 8060

5. JP1 user? Yes

6. Still have original remote? Yes

7. Checked the file section? Yes

8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes

9. Partially working setup code? TV/1137
Working keys: Power, numbers 0-9, mute
Almost working (ie these do another function): Volume+ and volume- actually change channels up and down; 'OK' actually sends 'game'
Not working; Sleep, TV/AV, red, green,yellow,blue,menu,channel+,channel-,recall,note,caps,pic,s.sys,s.effect,nicamsize,hold,reveal,txt

10. Learning remote question?
The URC 8060 fails to learn the functions listed as not working above.
I should mention that the TV/AV button switches between the 2 AV sources and the normal RF input; it looks like it sends different signals depending on what is switched, although I'm almost sure that isn't the case. I tried learning this button on 2 different buttons (ie assigning AV1 to one button and AV2 to another), but with no result. Here is a snippet from IR.exe's Learned signals:

TV/1137 is one of many setup codes that are RC5 device 0. Most of those aren't in the 8060, but seven of them are. They differ in which OBC numbers are assigned to which functions. Your results show that TV/1137 is NOT a good match for your TV in which OBC numbers go to which functions. Probably one of the others is a better match.

TV/0037, 0512, 0556, 0587, 0714, or 1037.

But since you have JP1, it's probably simpler to use learning to find the right OBC numbers and create a new upgrade, rather than experiment with the built-in setup codes.

If you needed to solve this without learning, that's the sort of data that would be required.

Too vague a phrase to be useful.

RC5 protocol sends two different signals for every function. But even for toggle functions, the toggle in the signal has no correlation with the toggle in the function.

That looks like what you get when the batteries in the original remote are marginal: Probably good enough to control the original device, but not good enough to learn from.

But it isn't enough of a sample to be certain of that diagnosis.

RC5 protocol is easy to learn correctly. If the batteries are good and you do the learning process right, you should get clean RC5 decodes every time.

I don't have the patience to manually dig through all that crap.
All my tools and methods for examining IR signals are based on having the original file (a .ir file with multiple learned signals) not a pile of output from some decode attempt by IR.exe.

It's not useful to post raw IR data in that form. If you want me or any other expert to look at IR data, you should save whatever learned signals you want examined in a .ir file and upload to the diagnosis folder and post the URL.

Try new batteries and more careful learning first, but if you still need help, post that file.

Thanks for your quick reply.
As you advised, I tried other codes and I managed to learn most of the keys. But that damn AV key still can't be learned... I changed the batteries also.
I found that the 0037 code has my desired AV function on the top-left teletext button on the 8060; from the looks of the symbol it seems to be the double-height option for teletext pages.
Any chance I relocate this function on the AV button ?

Later edit: I managed to finally learn the AV function on the AV button, but it only works one out of 5 or even more button presses...

The function on the teletext button works every time.

The function on the teletext button works every time.

This behavior is normal. RC5 has a toggle bit (at your learn -> T=0 or T=1) and a learned button has only 1 or 0. The build in codes can send this correctly.

Newbie here, so please bear with me.
How do I do that, since I don't know the Command Code for the original AV function ?
Remember, it's code isn't learned, it's in the original memory of the 8060.
Any chance I can extract it directly from the memory dump since I know the setup code (0037) ?
Is there a list of offsets somewhere ?

Actually I think I figured it out
[SETUP+] 994 [device1] [key] [device2] [key] -- assigns [device1] [key] to [device2] [key]
Info found somewhere on the net.
My only excuse right now is that this feature wasn't in the manual

Doing a KeyMove in IR.exe is easier than doing it on the remote itself, but you need to know the EFC number.

The decoded learned signal lists three possible EFC numbers. Without expert help, you would need to try each one to see which is correct.

For this device, as long as the decoded device number is 0 and the decoded OBC number is less than 64 (as it was for AV), the first of the three listed EFC numbers is the correct one.

When defining a KeyMove, first delete the learned signal from the same key. IR.exe would let you leave both, and then the learned signal would override the KeyMove, so you might think you're testing the KeyMove but really be retesting the learned signal.

Thanks for the infos, these proved quite usefull, as my remote somehow
refused the 994 procedure.

Tonight, thanks to you mainly, I finally managed to completelly control my living room
There's still a video recorder and a PCl eft to configure, but I don't foresee any major problems, given on what I've learned so far from you guys.
