JP1 Remotes

Hi,
I am just posting to ask if you do mail in upgrades? I recently bought a urc9960 from the states to replace my urc8060 and I have 2 devices that I cannot get it to work with.Namely a Sky plus sattelite receiver and a technics svcd-290 dvd hifi.I was browsing forums and you have been highly recommended as a man in the know. So my question is if I send you my remote can you upgrade to work with these devices?And if you do how much would it cost and what are the turnaround times.Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may be able to offer.

Hi Bryan. I don't do mail in upgrades as they proved to be more trouble than they were worth (ie, something doesn't work right, then the remote comes back, more work, etc).

However, your URC-9960 has a modem on board, so it would be relatively simple for you (or someone else) to create a WAV file with the correct upgrades. Does your URC-8060 have the missing codes for your devices? If so, please post what they are.

Hi Rob,Thanks for the fast reply. Currently I am using 0847 for the satellite and 1765 for the technics dvd hifi. Oneforall europe don't support the 9960 so if you know of anywhere I could download these wav files i would appreciate the help. Thanks again.Bryan

Bryan, just go to the file section, download any one of the many Sky (or Sky+, whichever applies) upgrades, ditto for the Technics, modify them for the 9960 using KM or RM, add them to IR (using the 9960 rdf) and create a wav file that you can then play through your PC speakers to upgrade the remote.

You'll have to do a bit of reading and learning how to use the various JP1 tools, but it's all in your power. Start with the JP1-How Easy is it, sticky post.

1) SAT/0847 uses the RC6-M-20n protocol (pid $0020) with fixed data "E0 00".
As the Capn said, this matches the existing upgrades for the Sky Digibox, so you could use the following upgrade file:

2) Audio/1765 uses the Panasonic Combo protocol (pid $00CD) with a main device code of 160.
This profile matches all of the Panasonic files in the HT System folder, but without knowing the model number of your Technics unit, I don't know which one will be the best match, so you'll just need to experiment.

If you have it in the 8060 the way you want it in the 9960. You can use rm import raw upgrade option.

Download from the 8060 in ir open rm and select the 8060 remote to start with.
Leave rm open and go back to ir. Select the upgrade you want first under devices tab and select edit. Copy the raw upgrade and leave the edit window open.
Go to rm and select advanced, import raw upgrade. Make sure rm is for the 8060 at this point.
After you import the raw upgrade change the remote in rm to 9960. Now save it to have the upgrade for later as rdmu file.
Take the same steps for all upgrades you want to get from the 8060.

Now after all is done you have each file to put into ir. You can then make keymoves as you like or whatever. You can put them all in ir and make a wav or use jp1 cable either way you like.

If he was looking to send his remote to me to have the codes added, I'm guessing that he's not a JP1 user.
