HT-Pro/URC-9811B001 Learning and the Fav Button

Post by Brad900 »

Ok- so I am knee deep into JP1 - trying everything out as I go.

I have uploaded 2 upgrades into the remote so far:

Scientific Atlanta - Explorer 8300 HD for URC-9911.rmdu
HK_AVR325.txt

When using the remote to control the Scientific Atlanta box- the fav button does not function the way I would like it to-in fact it doesn't function as a fav button at all- but simply changes the channel + 1 when using it.

When using the original remote the fav button -not only- changes the channel to the next favorite channel, but when in the "guide" it does NOT change the channel but just hops through the favorite channels on the guide itself.

I tried "learning" that button (but since I used the above file - I learned it on a seperate function "sat" which I haven't used on the remote and then changed the device and key associated.) to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your time....

The FAV button on UEI remotes is often a "special case" button that can't be re-programmed using learning or keymoves. I forget which remotes this is true with, but it sounds like yours is one of them.

For non-extended remotes, there is a special protocol, which can be found in the Special Protocol spreadsheet, that will let you re-program this button. Remotes using the extender can just program a regular keymove to this button.

Thanks Rob! As soon as I moved the learned function to another button all worked like a charm.

I am now looking into the extender...questions soon forthcoming ;)!
