I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the experts and everyone who has put so much time into researching and developing all the software and hardware needed to make all this JP1 stuff possible.
I am amazed buy all the things these remotes can do with the added functionality of JP1.
I just recently got into it, I ran across it when I got an old Panasonic Showstopper with a bad remote and was searching for hacks to repair the remote and modify the showstopper. I have since bought a RS 15-2116 and programmed to make my HT so much more usable than it ever has been, and I'm still playing around with it and adding features with the extender and coming up with new ideas of things I can do with the remote.
So THANKS everyone for all your hard work.

The funny thing is I had started looking at universal remotes because my HT was getting to be to hard to use, there were so many remotes and switching from one thing to another was such a pain, most of the time I didn't even bother to turn on the Amp it was just one more thing to have to deal with, I just used the audio out of the TV.
I was looking at the Harmony remotes and other that were hundreds of $$$ and I just didn't really want to spend that much money and then have it not do what I really wanted or worse work and then get dropped or broken (I have 2 small children).
Then I ran across your JP1 site and I knew I and found the answer, remotes for under $50 that could do everything I wanted and more. And all of the programming could be backed up on my computer as a bonus too!
I am thinking of buying a backup 15-2116 before they are all gone.

If you can't find the 15-2116, I have plenty of the URC-8910, which is the OFA equivilent, available for $20 each.

Thanks Rob, I'll keep that in mind you also have the 6131's right? I was thinking one of them might be nice too since I have the showstopper and my DVD-recorder could use the skip buttons too.
I am getting pretty use to the 15-2116 layout and can pretty much do what I need to without look at the remote anymore.

Yes I do, I have both the older 6131 model and the newer 6131N model. Personally, I prefer the older model. Both models have been modified for JP1 use.

I hear ya. I use the similar 15-1994 as my main remote and a 15-2116 as my "upstairs" remote, so I am also a fan of the RS design over the OFA designs.
However, while the URC-8910 is very similar to the 15-2116 functionality wise, it does have the advantage of having alot more buttons for you to play with. For starters, it has SKIP +/- buttons (ie, |<< and >>|) that are stupidly missing from the 15-2116, plus it has 3 macro and 4 learning buttons for all those extra things that JP1-ers always want to program.
