Hi,

I was looking at Nicola's special protocol and cannot figure out how you get the raw data for the macro I want to use this with.

When I look at the raw tab in IR i see a bunch of cells and don't see a way to identify which row represents the macro I want to run my device specific macro with.

What am I missing?????

Thxs.

You may be making it more complex than necessary. Depending on which remote you have there may be an easier way to enter a DSM. Tell us what remote you are using. Also, look at the soecial protocols spreadsheet in the jp1 file section and see if it supports your remote. If so it will actualy help you define the macro.

Without knowing the remote and what you are trying to accomplish it is difficult to give you a precise answer.

I'm using the RS 2116.

I currently use shift guide to run a macro when i am in dvd mode that switches devices and brings up a movie guide on my entre device. I don't use the guide button in dvd mode at all so I can definetely use it for this DSM.

I would simply like to use the guide button with out it being shifted. If I were to do it with a global macro, i lose the ability to bring up the guide in my satellite reciever. So I need a DSM.

I will take a look at the special spreadsheets.

thxs.

Since it is a 2116 the special protocol spreadsheet will definitely help you. It does include DSM also.

I do recommend you go with the 2116 extender v2 since it has everything you need and performs extremely well.

An extender for all intents an purposes is a set of special protocols that are installed into the remote to provide advanced functions and speed. Basically they take control of the remote and intercept your commands, process them and pass them to the remote processor when needed. Take a look at jp1 for beginners in the beginners section and the specidic extender for your remote since there is a lot more detail in them.

Yes, but you only install it once, set up the basics and don't have to use all the options at once. You will be happy once you make the plunge and the good part is you can still reload your current save configuration until you get the extender the way you want it.
