I am having trouble trying to figue out the hex code for a shifted tv/vcr button.

the hex command for the tv/vcr is 2f. would I add 80 for the shifted key like in the example? If thats the case how do I add 80 +2f=? If not how do I find the hex command # for a shifted tv/vcr button?
I believe the hex code for the double press is 48 ? 2f. I need to fill in the question mark I believe. Thanks for the help, Doug

Yes, but that 80 hex, not 80 decimal

If you don't know hex addition, you can use the Windows Calculator set to Scientific mode (View menu), then select the Hex radio button.

After you have sufficiently immersed yourself in ldkp hex calculation, I
suggest trying out the extenderCodeCalc spreadsheet which takes all the
fun out of it and generates the values for you Smile

I need help, I have spent about 2 hours trying to get the long press to work.

My antenna efc code is 59=2f, my tv/video is 58=of. I am tring to make a long duration on the tv/video so it will switch the antenna from 1-2, 2-1. I cant seem to get it to work.

this is what I have put in the keymove box.

device=tv
key= tv/video
device type=misc
setup code=1106
efc/hex command=41 AF 2F
hex is checked

I am just using the example for the 1s hexidecimal
What do you see I am doing wrong?

It is easier to figure out what is going wrong if you upload your IR text file.

From what you listed, it looks like you've created an LKP for the
tv/video button which is only active when the TV device is selecte.

The LKP is for duration 4 and if you press the button quickly it will
perform "Shift-+100" for the TV button map and if you hold the button
down it will perform "+100" on the TV button map.

What is it you'd like to perform and what is it doing with what you currently
have defined?

Remember all these definitions are only valid when the TV device is
selected.

That exactly what is happening!! I dont want the +100. I want to be able to select tv/vid1/2 with the short push and antenna 1-2 with a second push. Its incredible you can see that is happening and I cant see why its happening sitting in front of the computer.

What am I doing wrong or what do I need to change?

here is my file I hope it helps

You're using EFC's in the Hex command and you should be using the Keycodes of the buttons that the EFC's are linked to.

AF is the keycode for the Shift-100+ button. 2F is the keycode for the 100+ button. You should replace them with the keycode of whatever button you want processed.

You can find the keycode by looking at the KeyCode.htm file included w/ the extender or by looking in the [Buttons] section of the RDF file. Or, if you have Excel, you can use the ExtenderCodeCalc spreadsheet to calculate everything for you.

Crying or Very sad I changed that now and all I have been able to do is move the antenna button to the tv/video button. I would like to be able to use the tv/video button for 2 operations. one for switching input and the other for switching antennas.
I know it can be done but I can't seem to figure it out myself.

Thanks for the help, Doug

Did you get yourself a copy of the Extender Code Calculator? It will really simplify your efforts in creating the desired hex code.

I'm not sure I follow you. Here's one way you can do what you want to do.

1. Assign a keymove to Shift-TV/Video to switch inputs. Test this manually to make sure it does what you want it to.

2. Assign a keymove to Shift-Enter to switch antennas. Test this manually to make sure it does what you want it to.

3. Create a keymove for the LDKP protocol and use the following for the Hex command: 31 A0 98. 31 is for the LKP protocol w/ a duration of 3. A0 is the keycode for the Shift-TV/Video button. 98 is the keycode for the Shift-Enter button. Test this to make sure it works.

4. Once you know its working, adjust the timings/order/buttons as you see fit.

You should really look at the Extender Code Calc if you haven't already. It makes all of this so much easier.

I just found out what was going wrong. I actually came up with that code 2 hours ago and I thought is wasn't working. It only works when on tv input. If I'm on a video input the antenna's won't switch. It's not a problem with the extender but a function of the television. I did't relize this until I found it would't work when I was able to control the tv and switch inputs then the antenna would not switch until I got back on the tv input.

So that being said, this is the next challenge. It works when it on the tv input but I need it to work all the time including on video 1 and video 2.

When on video 1 or 2 or tv the video input selector works fine. It wont change antenna's unless on tv input. While watching on video 1 or 2 in order to change antennas the LKP will need to change to tv input( by changing channel to 03) then change antenna's.

The key here is it needs to work LKP on the tv/video and normal with just normal push. Thanks, Doug

Is it possible to just have the LKP always change channel to 03 before
changing antennae, regardless of whether you are on tv/vid1/vid2 input?

Otherwise you probably use a toadtog to figure out whether you need
to enter 03 prior to changing antennae.

You can do it using a macro, but the LKP protocol in 2116ex2 supports
up to 13 button sequences, between 0-7 for the "short press" sequence
and the rest for the "long press" sequence (total cannot be greater than
13)

In your case, you should be able to embed all the buttons you want
in your sequence, in the LKP hex data.

I highly suggest you run the extendercodecalc excel spreadsheet
referenced above. It will save you some headaches.

Otherwise, just post the exact buttons you want executed for the
short and long press and someone can give you the appropriate
hex data for the keymove.

Thanks for the help- I can now do what I wanted to do with the tv/vcr button and I am using the extender delay calculator.

Every time I do something it brings up another problem or question.

Can I use the device button to do a long delay?

I want to be able on 1st push to change the input for the dvd, turn on the power to the dvd, change channel on the tivo to 100 which I can already.

when holding down longer I want to just turn power off of the dvd without changing inputs or anythng else

I think I have tried everything except the correct way if it can be done- Thanks Doug
