Unable to MFR RESET on OFA 7562 after a RM and IR WAV update

Summary:
I am unable to do a Manufacturer Reset (MFR RST). The remote flashes twice on re-insering batteries and then NOTHING. Please read on if you want a fairly thorough list of what I did to determine if you have an actual hardware fault.
Currently:
I have a OFA 7562, which doesn't respond. I cannot do a MFR RESET (981) as pressing and holding the MAGIC key produces no lights.
I have changed the old batteries (1.4v checked by meter) for brand new (1.6v) Duracells, when I insert them, the TV light flashes twice, but then nothing works. Pressing any button I can't get any lights to flash at all. And no devices respond to my presses.
Have also tried no batteries overnight, reversing them, one weak one new, using one and a wire to give 1.5v. No difference.
Background:
I had been using RM to create a WAV file update for my Humax PVR9200t, using the Humax 9200t RMDU file on this forum, and then using IR to merge this with the WAV OFA provided some time back for my Memorex STAV3100 Tuner Amp. Don't have a JP1 cable, thought I'd do it by WAV, as it would be only a one off.
The update was accepted (two flashes), and was able to change the volume up and down on the Humax. Then started to test whether my Memorex was working when suddenly no lights, and no response, from the OFA.
Have "pulled up" all buttons to eliminate any stuck ones, (been there!)taken the unit apart, cleaned all contacts with iso propyl alcohol etc, and when apart and I can see no "short circuits", cracked board or dry joints.
Whilst apart, to rule out a shorting button, I put the batteries on and I get the same response - two short flashes after re-inserting batteries, but otherwise no life. Whilst apart used screwdriver to activate any buttons, but no flashes.
So currently can't do a MFR REST as MAGIC key and all others seem to be dead, but current is getting through, as I get TV flashing twice on re-insering batteries.
As no replies have been posted, I managed to find the receipt, I was just inside the 2 year warranty! Contacted OFA, explained the symptoms, returned the unit and was sent a new unit.
