RCU-810 and Advanced Codes

Can advanced codes be used on the RCU810 directly from the keyboard as was the case with the older URC models? There's no apparent "magic' key or 'setup key'. In the FAQ it seems to say not. In that case, can JPI be used to access the adavanced codes?

No, not through remote itself. Via jp1, yes.

The "SETUP" key is the "CODE SEARCH" key, but as Edmund said, you cannot program keymoves directly on the remote as this function was removed from this remote, most likely to help hide the fact that it is a UEI remote.

That's too bad about the advanced codes not being directly useable. I used to have a URC4050 ... OFA 6 I think. It did this, but it's long gone.

So now I will add the JP-1 header and see how that goes.

Is there a currently available UEI remote that can directly access the advanced codes?

Many, they include 8910, 9910, 9960, 9964. And non jp1-able, but still accept advanced codes, urc-6820, 8820, 10820, and 6690.

Keep in mind that the RCU810 was a special case in that it's the only higher-end UEI remote that doesn't accept advanced codes.

Once upon a time, practically all UEI remotes accepted advanced codes, but these days the really cheap OFA remotes (ie, those $10 and under) typically don't let you program advanced codes to buttons, but even those remotes let you test advanced codes (using the SETUP+nnn method), so you can still use them to teach other remotes.
