10. Learning remote question? I am able to find all the OBCs for every button, but IR.exe lists two different Device numbers depending on the button pushed. I get either NEC1 device 0 sub-device 134 or I get NEC1 device 170. I have tried to create a KM upgrade using the Pioneer 3DEV protocol using 170 as Device1 and 134 as Device2 and making the appropriate entries on the functions tab under the byte2:dev#.

The device 170 buttons seem to work, but not the 134.

So, my question is what should I put as Device2? How do I translate IR.exe's NEC1 device 0 sub-device 134 to KM?

Could you post a copy of your IR file (*) that contains the learned signals please. I am suspicious about the protocol and codes that you've found as these are not standard for Pioneer. I suspect that you haven't downloaded DecodeIR.dll.

Pioneer always uses one of the "Pioneer" protocols (which are similar to NEC) and it never uses sub-device codes.

The TV/0166 setup code uses the "Pioneer" protocol with a device code of 170

If you see two lines of data in IR.exe where each line has a different device code or OBC, then you have a "double style" signal.

I checked my file using the latest IR.exe and got the same thing with DecordIR.dll ver 2.14. Let me know what else I can do to help in the trouble shooting effort...

These do appear to be NEC1 signals, as opposed to Pioneer, which surprises me. However, it's hard to guess what the functions are as you only used the L1-L4 buttons for the learning. It would have been alot easier to follow if you had learned them all to the appropiate buttons on the URC-8811.

This one could be tricky to get programmed just right, so could you attempt to learn all of the buttons from the original remote. But first, reset the 8811's memory usin the 981 command. Then learn the buttons to the matching button on the 8811. When the memory is full, save the file and start again (after another 981 reset). When it's time to learn any goofy buttons (ie, buttons that don't have a matching counterpart on the 8811), learn the functions to any button and then state what the real function name is in the NOTE box at the bottom of IR's learned signals panel.

Wish I had known I could 'learn' buttons to other than L*... oh well.

which causes all of the device code 170 buttons not to work (the LED doesn't even blink, so I think my problem is with leaving out the "Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 1A (S3C8+) NEC 2DEV Combo").

I get similar results when using the combined codes. The separate upgrades seem to work just fine.

So how do I properly copy the NEC 2Dev Combo protocol into IR?

If you tried to copy and paste that whole block, there's the error. Device upgrade code gets pasted into IR's Devices tab while protocol upgrade code goes on the Protocols tab. There's no mechanism in IR to allow both to be pasted at the same time.

Select everything in the device upgrade starting with "Upgrade Device..." and including "End". Paste it into IR-Devices tab.

Then select the protocol upgrade starting with "Upgrade Protocol..." and including the "End". Paste it into IR-Protocols tab.
