- do I have to arm the extender each time I dowload a new config with
IR (i.e. press 10 and AV, then 0) ?

- does a 981 reset remove the extender.

- how to test if the extender is removed?

-yes, since the remote resets each down- or upload

-yes, the contents of EEPROM are set to factory default

-best guess, press 10 and AV, then 0 and try a feature only available with the extender
