Hi,
I just got a Polaroid LCD TV with AFIK, a UEI remote. The remote is labled "Polaroid". and has the JP1.2 on the PC board. I've searched here and found that I can't do anything with it, "JP wise".
I would like to use my favorite remotes, the 6131, to be able to do additional things with this TV such as, Speakers on/off in the form of a macro under two keys. one key, OFF. another key, ON. Or maybe only one key is needed.
The procedure with the Polaroid remote is... MENU>>SOUND>>SPEAKERS>>
OK. (OK for ON/OFF) >>MENU (to exit).
Here's the question,is the best way to do this to use my URC 8811 learning remote, then download this to IR, then put that into my 6131 ? (if that will even work???) Or is there another/ better/simpler way that you guys know of?
Thanks |

Well, if you intend to use the 8811 to learn the "macro" then you can't do it the way you describe. But, you CAN use the 8811 to learn all of the signals of the OEM remote, decode them in IR, use that data to build a KM (or RM) upgrade, and upload that upgrade to the 6131. THEN you can build any macros using those functions that you wish in IR for the 6131. (Presuming your 6131 is modified to be JP1-ready) _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

Couple more questions please,
My Protocol I read from my 8811 that I learned keys for the Polaroid TV is:
JVC{2} and in KM's dropdown list there is JVC and JVC-48
I"m using JVC in KM, does that matter ? Or is the {2} important ?
Also, after learning the codes I need from the Polaroid remote into the 8811, it provides OBC and EFC codes, should I just use the EFC for button codes in KM ?
Thanks |

JVC{2} is normal in decoding JVC protocols. Use JVC protocol in KM.
I'd use OBCs. Set it on the Setup sheet and enter OBC in the OBC column on the Functions sheet. _________________ Liz

I think the "JVC(2)" reference shows that you're either using an out-dated version of decodeIR.dll or you're not using it at all (and therefore defaulting to IR.exe's own built in decoder.
Make sure that you have downloaded from the URL below and have either saved it in the same folder as IR.exe or in your Windows/System folder, then when you look at the learned signals in IR.exe, up at the top, under "Signal Description" it should read "Decoder: DecodeIR (Version 2.29)"

I can't download this one. Screen says this object has been blocked
From 2.19 readme:
Quote: | JVC: {38k,525}<1,-1|1,-3>(16,-8,(D:8,F:8,1,-45)+)
UEI protocol 0034
The device, OBC and EFC should be consistent with KM. A JVC signal
has two parts. The whole signal could be learned as one frame which would be
reported as JVC, but that almost never happens. A good JVC learn typically
is two frames where the first is JVC and the second is JVC{2} and the device
and OBC are the same between the two.
If you get a decode of just JVC{2} without the matching JVC, it could be
a partial learn of a JVC signal (which might even work) or it could be a
misdecode of something else (though this new decoder will do that much
less than the old one does and I haven't seen that kind of misdecode yet). | Do you think that info is now obsolete? _________________ Liz

The download link actually takes you to John's site, so it's possible that there may be some disagreement between your ISP and his. The direct link to the member on his site is this:
http://john.fine.home.comcast.net/ir/Decode_IR_DLL.zip
The 2.29 readme reads the same. I thought John had modified the program so that it wouldn't spit out those JVC(2) lines, but either I'm wrong or he just forgot to update the readme.
But either way, Elizabeth's first response is correct, you can ignore them. _________________ Rob

Thank you all very much.
I did do the IR update anyway.
Now I'm working on finding out how to do the upgrade in KM.
Thanks again |

2.29 did not change any of the single JVC{2} in my file. _________________ Liz
