Any help with code would be appreciated

For the recorder you may want to use the learning remote to build an upgrade. If you do after getting it build upload it for the next user that may not have a learning remote.

For the receiver have you tested the rca upgrades in the file section? I would think they will give you most if not all functions for the unit.
