Scientific Atlanta AT2000

Hello all,

I dabbled with this JP1 stuff about a year ago and was able to get a Scientific Atlanta ER3 remote to control my Panasonic Plasma display 42PWD7UY using the Panasonic Combo protocol.

I've since upgraded my cable box to HD and this one came with the AT2000 version of the remote. I can't get this one to work with the Plasma display. I don't know if the protocol has been changed with the most recent versions of RM and KM - although it seems like RM and KM have different codes for the same Panasonic Combo protocol - neither works. The plasma is seeing something though because the led on the plasma blinks when I try to power off the plasma with the programmed remote.

I'm using the newest beta RDF for the AT2000, IR 6.15, KM 8.35 and RM 1.39.

On another issue, there is an error 1004 - can't save on KM 8.35 when I try to save. I'm running Win XP pro Sp2 with Excel 2003. All other macros function fine.

If you need any more specific info let me know. All help is appreciated.

There was a recent thread, initiated by the Author "nosmotnodrog," dated 1-26-05, in which an effort to develop an RDF for this remote was initiated. The subject of the thread is "RDF Sync 3 file for Sc Atlanta AT2000 4 device remote". I don't know how to link to this thread from your thread, so I'm just trying to suggest certain search terms to use.

Anyway, the latest "beta" version of the RDF can be found here:

My point is, to the best of my knowledge, the program IR.exe doesn't yet support this make and model remote control. But support will suposedly be available in the next release of IR.exe.

I'm not sure if this info. is relevant, but if memory serves me correctly (no pun intended), having an RDF file is a big first step in creating an upgrade for this remote. I too am interested in creating upgrades for use with this remote, but as "mr d p gumby" told me in the referenced thread, "you might want to try walking before running."

Even the beta RDF file will allow IR to support the remote for upgrades, etc. Some of the Other Settings on the General tab may be incomplete, but otherwise it should work. I think you are referring to the lack of support in KM at the time. I have added support to KM for this remote since then. Also, the beta RDF should allow RM to support this remote, though no picture is available for now (we usually wait until the RDF is completed before asking Nils to add the image & map files).

There was a strange issue with the remote setting a normally unused bit in the setup code within keymoves, and I had asked that this be tested to see if it needed to be set. I never got any feedback on this, so I assume that it must have worked OK. If I'm wrong, then the remote might not execute keymoves created in IR/KM/RM. Fixing this would require that IR itself be updated, which might take a while.

I'm not sure if the issue is the rdf. Since I seem to be able to download and upload to the remote, I assumed that the rdf was working alright. I'm thinking that it might be the protocol or the upgrade. As I said, the plasma tv is seeing the code since the led on the plasma blinks when I press a button on the remote, however, it isn't doing anything. So it is seeing a command but I guess not understanding what the command is telling it to do. I don't know if this indicates that the problem is with the upgrade or the protocol.

Incidentally, RM does have a pretty good picture of the remote.

I tried creating the upgrade using both KM and RM and both gave the same result (blinking led but no reaction from the tv). Also, the coding for the protocol, Panasonic combo, seems to be different under KM and RM - I wonder why that is?
