New: JVC Combo Protocol

I've just discovered that the $0098 protocol is really a JVC combo protocol. There are 2 versions floating around. The original version used one byte of fixed data and then it would XOR one of the bits based on whether a bit in the 2nd byte was set. Thankfully, they trashed this version and replaced it with the current version which doesn't have any fixed data. The first variable byte is the device code and the second variable byte is the OBC.

I have just put a quickie KM upgrade together using "Manual Settings" to demonstate the TV/0653 setup code, which uses this protocol.

I would suggest that we only support the current version of the protocol and not bother to try and support the bad version, but that's just my opinion.

Do the latest versions of the various JP1 tools correctly identify and deal with this protocol?

The late jon armstrong threw together a quickie JVC combo for me using devices 3, 15 and 35 - you only mention the former two in you upgrade, Rob.

Is this protocol resident in any remotes? How does one update device.xls to reflect this?

If so, it could save a lot of memory for me in my JVC TV upgrade

You can combine an unlimited number of device codes using this protocol.

I suppose this means it is NOT resident in any remotes?

I just added the JVC Combo protocol to KM 8.36.
