JP1 Remotes

Hi guys. I was away from here for a while since Ive been incredibly busy. Anyway I have a problem now. I am building an electronics closet that has a door that will close that has my HTPC reciever etc... Now It is in a different room than my TV. Now I was hoping I can control it with my 2117 RF remote but when I placed the base in the closet. I can control everything except the MCE PC!!! When I opened and saw what was happening, the IR reciever that came with MCE had the red LED lihgt always on even when I wasnt pressing any buttons! This went away when I unplugged the base.

IT seems like the base is always transmitting IR frequency for some reason and it basically confuses the IR reciever on the HTPC. I have to get this to work because there is not way to control tis otherwise. Do I have a defective base? Does any1 have a clue how I can fix this? I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Your problem is not the base itself, it's the presence of RF noise in your house/environment. If you search this forum, you will find many instances of this problem being discussed wrt 2117, 9910 and HTPro. Basically, there's a lot of RF floating around out there, and it causes your base to continuously emit random IR. The usual solution is to relocate the base station untli you find a location that works - nothing particularly scientific about it - just trial and error. If, however, you are required to keep it in that particualar cabinet, you may need to figure out a way to reduce the RF sensitivity of the base, so that hopefully only the RF from your 2117 will exceed its detection threshhold and activate the IR.

thaanks guys. Thats some confusing stuff lol. I guess Ill try moving the bas to another corner or something or tunring it around. The only thing that seems to have a problem is the MCE USB reciever all the other electronics work fine. I wonder if there is something I can do to the MCE reciever.

Some hardware are more affected then others by the noise. Had the 9910 for a years and never had the noise problem until this week. After doing some test, I have changed the Surge Strips and no more noise.
