I have to do a bunch of stuff like that (I forget the exact sequence) to make it region free, but as the player can't handle PAL, being region free doesn't do me much good. _________________ Rob

I'm going to save this in case I ever want to watch a DVD coded for a different region. But for the current problem I'm taking the coward's way out. Today I picked up a manual AV switch that should do the job...
$8 at a local electronics store. We use the VCR very little, and since I have to be at the equipment to put the tape in it setting the switch shouldn't be too much of a chore. Provided I can remember to do it, of course!
