A couple of key points that remain unclear:

(1) Have you EVER confirmed a successful .wav file upload to this remote? If not, then this is the first thing you must solve - how to upload a .wav file.

No - I've outlined the proceedure I've been using above, but the remote never seems to accept the upgrade wave. Is my proceedure correct?

(2) After uploading the "upgrade only", have you then MANUALLY set the desired devicetype/setup code for the SA upgrade? If not, then the remote is not trying to USE the upgrade that is sitting in the EEPROM.

I haven't tryed this as I don't believe the remote is accepting the upgrade in the first place!

BUT...my recommendation, if CBL/0877 partially works, is screw the upgrade (until - not IF - you get a cable and pogo adapter ) and fill in the gaps in your 0877 setup code with keymoves using EFCs (not OBCs).

As stated earlier ive found a proceedure for keymoves using EFC (944) but am not really sure of what numbers to type in, where to get them from or whether they should be 5 or 3 digit. Any help appreciated.

I have confirmed that 997 is the correct code for doing modem upgrades with the Kameleons (it's 984 for some older OFA remotes).

But, as you have yet to get any upgrade to work, there's obviously a problem with the procedure rather than with the upgrades.

The trouble with relying on using WAVs to do your upgrades is that you are flying blind, when you use a JP1 cable the first thing you do is download the memory from the remote which tells IR.exe what signature the remote uses which in turn tells it which RDF to use. In your case, you have to select an RDF and my guess is that you're using the wrong one.

There are several versions of the URC-9960 floating around now, and there are at least 2 versions of the B01 version. If your Kameleon is failing to respond to the WAV files that you have created using the KASAKAS0 RDF, maybe you should try the experimental SAKAS0 RDF that I created for some of the people using the BJ5 version.

I would STRONGLY recommend that you buy yourself a JP1 cable and pogo-pin adapter to use with this remote.

THIS SA Master File is cleverly hidden in the file section. The functions and their OBCs, followed by EFCs are:

And regarding the .wav upgrade procedure, if your process is correct (which it seems like) - see THIS THREAD - then you must have the wrong signature, so the remote is not recognizing that you are sending an upgrade.

Not to be redundant, but I will repeat Rob's repetition of my former recommendation:

GET A CABLE AND POGO ADAPTER!

Yes I know your right - I will order a cable tonight (USB or Parallel- which is best?, I've read some problems with USB chips etc...)

I've tryed to assign some of the EFC's you posted to the 9960B01 remote using the following proceedure:

1. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
2. press OTHER
3. enter 9-9-4
4. press DEVICE key (CBL)
5. tap SETUP for one blink
6. enter advanced code
7. pick a key (I've tryed to assign to several keys - last, exit, info etc)
8. home

e.g.
Last Channel 014 (EFC) 161 (OBC) (00161 invokes the double blink acceptance)
mute / video source 034 000
channel up 029 223
The remote excepts the codes (double blink of IR lower transmit buttons) but these newly assigned buttons do not do anything on the STB.

As channel up works with the Sci Atlantic device code, on its original button (without changing it to the advanced code) - then does this suggest these code advanced codes are not quite right?

Have I got a dodgy remote?
Does it need some level of reset?
Can you assign a EFC to a pre programmed button (i.e. by the device code)?
If I reallocate the device code to the device, will it write over all these EFC upgrades i've attempted.
Are the signals being sent by my OFA RC5/6 or IRDA. If they are standard RC5/6 types then why won't my OFA learn the signals from the PACE RC which works fine on the Sci ATlantic STB and by inference is communicating with RC5/6 signals.
Am I totally incompetant?

When I get the JP1 and down load the image to IR (then KM), I will be able to see what buttons have what EFC's and OBC's, but untill then I'm stuck.
Unless that is, you have a solution.
