JP1 Remotes

What would you consider the best JP1 ready remote.

I have a 8810 and was thinking of getting a 2nd remote.

The URC-8810w (aka URC-8811) is as good as any of them.

Besides the internet, I have not seen them at WalMart in
some time. What other dept stores sell them?

They have been discontinued. There are a few around till though. Rob has some that he can tell you about.

I have an 8811, but decided to try something different and picked-up a 8910. Button layout's almost the same as 8811, but has LCD.

The 8811 though is a very good remote. I like mine alot.

I can sell you the URC-8811 for $20 each, plus $4 shipping. For people that need more than one, the $4 shipping is good for up to 3 remotes.

for that price range the URC-8910($20.99) from buy.com or amazon.com it is practicaly the same as the 8810/8811, but has an LCD. the LCD dosen't do much, but it is nice to be able to see what device it is on and easy to go through the setup menu. no counting the LED blink sequence to see what codes you have set. I'm just having one problem with DSMs (device spasific macros) without the Extender. I'm sure it would be no problem with the extender installed.

I'm running the extender in my 8811. It's really nice. I use DSM, LKP, and Pause all without problems. I had problems getting it setup, but the folks here really help out.

If I get the 8910 and it doesn't work as well as my 8811, or I don't like is as well, I can always ebay it off... They do sell there.

You can't go wrong with the 8811 and the extender.

So for around $20 the 8910 sounds like the remote of choice.

I also heard about a IR/UHF remote too.

The IR/UHF remote is the URC-9910. I have about half a dozen of those available for $30 each.

This remote looks interesting. Do I understand this remote to only
light up or make visiable the buttons which are used for that particular
device? I like the idea.

Is this remote a battery eater? My JP1 listing states it does not
have a JP1 connector but it does have pads to add the pins.
My JP1 chart is not sure if it is modem upgradable.
