Somewhere I saw a post (and cannot find it now) where there was a way to modify the RDF file so a description could be put in for the device protocol code so in keymoves and general you might see "Sony TiVo" vs. 2001.

Am I making this up??? I have searched on the JPI and yahoo forums to no avail...

Thanks ahead...

It's been discussed as something that would be nice to have, but AFAIK it can't currently be done.

Under the "[DeviceButtons]" section of the appropriate RDF file, I usually
change the db-0x to match the special protocols that are bound to them
like db-dsm, db-ldkp, etc., so I can remember them easier than
misc/1103 and misc/1106.

In my experience, in the same section, you can rename TV to SonyTV
and IR would display SonyTV in the UI. I don't know if that is answering
what you are asking.
