Josh,
We can use either ReplayTV 5000 extender 1 or TiVo extender 2 as the basis. TiVo extender adds KeyMove, secondary shift (aka xshift) and special protocols such as LKP, but the free space in the EEPROM will be less. Which one do you prefer?
Either way, open new thread in the extenders forum and we can discuss more details there.

Also, just FYI, this remote has a 1k chip installed. If I get a chance, I will replace it with a 2k chip which will give Hal a bit more freedom with the extender. _________________ Rob

I've found some documentation on the S3C8 processor online, and I'm trying to figure out just how the extenders work. It looks sort of like (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that the special protocol sort of "hijacks" control of the processor. Someone has figured out the addresses of subroutines stored in the processor's ROM that handle the menial type tasks of checking for button presses, actually pulsing the infrared LED, etc, and how to return control back to the extender after the call instead of to the standard program in the remote's ROM. Is that sort of correct?

Whoops, I didn't even notice until after my last post that the thread had added a second page! Thank you, Rob, for upgrading the EEPROM. I greatly appreciate it.
Here is the new thread in the Extenders forum as suggested by Hal
Thanks!
