Screwed up my 8910?

Post by andyross »

I decided to replace my 8810 with an 8910. Since the keys are the same, I thought I could simply upload the 8810's IR file into the 8910. I foolishly ignored the message about signatures. Now, the remote gives a MEM FAULT and the factory reset doesn't help. It just gives 'BAD E2'. It now appears to be ignoring any changes I tried to send.

Is there any way to clean this up, such as a hidden refresh or where the 'signature' code is so it can be corrected? Maybe even somebody else's 8910 IR file will do to at least let me get it working.

Otherwise, is there any easy way to convert my 8810 data to an 8910 without having to re-enter all my Macro's and other settings from scratch?

What do you mean by "factory reset". You'll need to do a MFR reset (see the sticky post at the top of the forum). As for an easy way to move your macros, etc. , I don't believe one exists.

Thanks for the fast response, that fixed it. I forgot about the sticky post. The reset I was talking about is the one listed in the manual as 'Restoring Factory Default Settings). (Setup, OPS RESET, CLR SETUP). I guess that version won't lose any upgrades, whereas the MFR RESET apparantly will wipe them out, too.

This time, I downloaded and saved the settings as a last-ditch backup!!

Also, I normally use Keymap Master (currently 8.32), but it shows the COM/SKIP button is 'not available' when I change the upgrade to an 8910, or try to even create a new one. Is this an error or is it not programmable? It's where SLEEP is on the 8810, and I had my CBL (Motorola DCT-6412) set up with the 30-second skip on it. I'd like to keep the same physical location.

In 8910 com/skip is one of the buttons you can't program unless you use the 8910 extender.
